Yeah the whole A&P class I am assisting with is going. It's going to be awesome :) Too bad they don't allow cameras.

Body Worlds is a fantastic exhibit! I saw it when it was in Los Angeles. Amazing, amazing, amazing. I know you'lll enjoy it. Wish I could see it again.

I saw it in LA as well....it is pretty cool. I recommend going at a time when there will be less people and you will have more time. I went during Christmas break and it was soooo packed.

I am sooooo jealous...and my husband too...he loves to study anatomy as much or more than me because he is an artist...

I really wanted to see it in LA but my boyfriend said it he thought it was disgusting and since he was my ride I couldn't see it. Boo. There's nothing gross about anatomy! After all, he was a big fan of the Mutter Museum (Philly's museum of medical oddities). If anyone is in Philly check it out. It might be a fun subsitiute for those of your who long to see Body Worlds but can't make the trip. http://www.collphyphil.org/muttpg1.shtml#

Specializes in OB, lactation.

I'm in FL but I heard about that... I mentioned it to a classmate who is a flight attendant (she keeps a crash pad in Chicago b/c I guess it's her hub)... we may fly up for a day to go check it out on our break!!

I also got to see a human body exhibit in China when I went there in 2001. It didn't use the "plastification" (or whatever they call it) technique as in the Chicago exhibit but I thought it was pretty cool. The plastification bodies seem better overall, but the formaldehyded ones in Beijing seemed to look more "real" than the pics of the ones in Chicago that I saw on the website... I think maybe because it's the original eyes in the ones in China (it was not an exhibit for the faint of heart, for example, in addition to bodies in general, they had some fetuses, some with malformations, too). They were not in "themes" like the Chicago one, rather just in different sections & planes of dissection, etc (i.e. they weren't posed by a chess board or in a running pose for a "muscle" display). It was at a science museum there- I wouldn't have known about it but it was in a guidebook!

I saw A TV special about the museum in Philly. That one look really interesting too!

LOVED IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was very cool, we wanted to buy the DVD of how they made them but they were out so we ordered it. kinda pricey to go. it was 51.50 for 2 tickets with my college ID plus 12 bucks to park. but we had fun. a side note though. do NOT buy brand new birkenstocks and wear them while walking in Chicago. my feet are bruised and sore!! but it was worth it. the weather was great. the only part of the display i didn't like was 8 months pregnant women. kinda rough on my heart to see that. other than that I highly recommend it !!!!!
