First day of college and class and my professor has already assigned 3 chapters to be read w/ an outline for each, all due on Wensday . And this was just anthropology (my only class on Mondays) and I already felt the feeling of giving up and saying "screw college".
I did all of the readings and outline today (took me 9 hours) for one HW assignment, now I'm just imaginaging how I will truly feel the stress when I have to add my Orgo and writing on top of all this tomorrow.
I don't have a job, which I feel so blessed. I'm trying to keep myself on a tight schedule by trying to juggle all this coursework and giving myself time to continue studying for my KAT.
I need to score an 85% in math and a 80% in reading and we only have one time to take it per person, so if I failed it, I won't be able to get into the nursing program.
And yeah I'm just exhausted. I can barely keep my eyes open by typing this so sorry If you can't understand whatever I'm typing...
Yeah my first nursing classes day yesterday was rough. Up at 5am to walk dogs then leave at 8:15am for school, then didn't leave school until 8:15pm. My eyes felt tired at 6! I almost panicked thinking "how will I be a nurse with 12 hour shifts!!!!!?????" But things will look different after you get a nap or rest. Always give yourself some time in your schedule in the week for a walk or exercise or watching a movie and everything will be seen in a better perspective and won't seem as overwhelming.
And you know what? I sweat over my gen eds last year. And they don't really matter. I mean that 13 page paper I wrote for music appreciation that I thought was so demanding and I put so much effort in...eh. I didn't need to be upset about it. You can put hard work in something without being stressed..just say this isn't going to kill you and try your best is all.
I remember that feeling well! You are so not alone in your experience.
You can learn to work smarter. Your campus probably has a learning center that teaches how to read textbooks, take notes, and other study skills. Study groups, where you are able to talk out loud about the material, can speed the learning process. There are many ways up out of the quagmire.
Best to start learning and practicing them now because no matter how tough the prereqs are, nursing school will be worse.

I'm retaking my pre-reqs & tried to put him in daycare & he wouldn't have it. He cried from the moment I dropped him off until I had to go pick him up. *Thankfully* I'm only taking pre-reqs but I don't know what I would've done if I was in nursing school. I didn't have any back up care so he's back at home now & I'm looking for another sitter. I also don't know what I'll do if I get into nursing school.
