Excelsior Testing Assistance

Nursing Students Online Learning

Ok, so without re-engaging a debate on the pros and cons of Excelsior College I need some help and information.

I graduated from EC with my ADN and am now going to return to them to complete my BSN. However, in that time they changed from Prometric to Pearson for their testing facilities. This has made my drive to take a test increase from 10min to over 4hours.

Does anyone know of alternative testing methods that EC allows (their authority on it is on vacation) and how did it go if you used it?

Thanks,

E

Email the college. I thought if you were a certain distance away then you would be able to take the test differently (by mail) but I'm not sure.

Email them and find out. Just let them know the mileage to the nearest pearson center.

In the old days they did have a policy concerning traveling long distances to test, however, now that they use Pearson I don't know what their policy is. Your best bet is to contact the school by phone or email, http://www.excelsior.edu.

I have talked and emailed, but the person to speak with is on vacation. I was just hoping to find someone who had exercised the option and how it worked for them.

I would not be surprised if there were no current policy due to the large availability of Pearson centers. Otherwise, the only option I can think of would be a proctored written exam set up at a local library or school. I hope that when the resource person comes back from vacation that you find that they will make reasonable accommodations for you. I traveled a long distance twice for their testing many years ago and found it to be quite an inconvenience. Even though one time I stayed overnight, I still was tired from the trip and thought it affected my test. Good luck.
