For those of you who are in or went through the Excelsior RN program I have a few questions.
Do your transcripts from prior schooling play a big role in acceptance into the program? Do you need prior experience in the field as an LPN before enrolling or can you go straight from PN graduation?
How are you RN clinicals different from those in your LPN program? I heard the instructors were more strict about observing you than helping and teaching you while in clinical. Was it organized? Did you feel it was thorough?
I know some people who are ignorant about the work it takes to get through the program. Has it affected you in any way in terms of getting a job? As far as I know, if you pass your boards then you have proved you are a competant RN. I just want to know if any employers had ever looked down upon your schooling as "oh internet school is unsafe".
Hope someone out there can answer these for me and I apologize if these questions have been answered already. Thanks in advance!!!
Hi
I am an LPN who just finished nursing school for my RN I put six years of my life into it hard work my family suffered and i dont even get to graduate because my school as of last spring changed their grading policy you need to get 75 in nursing process classes but if you repeat you must get a 78 which is now setting up future student for failure. I cant graduate because of .08% of a point they say with the way they calulate they get 77.42 but when i calulate i get 77.5 no other school has this grading policy. i amso angry and discouraged when i started i had passion for nursing but this school drained me. i passed every requirement and skill and had great evaluations in my clinicals which mean nothing because of one class and .08% i cant take my boards of be at pinning. I am looking into excelsior, i will never encourage colleges again Excelsior wants you to be successful and they seem very encouraging which gives me hope again.
I took the CPNE in Albany, NY and passed on the first try. It was extremely nerve wracking but I just kept telling myself "you did not come all of this way across the country to go back home a failure", failure wasn't an option for me. I highly recommend Excelsior, it allowed me to become an RN on my schedule and I was able to continue working. If anyone needs advice, I'd love to help.
Hi,
I am new here and not even sure if I am posting correctly. Anyway, I was in an associates RN degree program, but unfortunately came up a little short and did not pass. Does anyone know if EC excepts other RN schools credits. I do not know much if anything about this program, so if anyone has any advise please send it my way.
Thank you!

Nope. you'll have to take all of the nursing exams, except, perhaps, for 2.

You will still have to take the 7 nursing exams and pass with at least a C. You will have to take the CPNE and pass. You must still have the required general education credits. The catalog states that if you have completed at least 50% of the clinical nursing credit hours in an asso, baccalaureate, or RN diploma nursing program, you might be eligible for the program if you apply within 5 years of completing the last nursing course.

Thanks for the response. How did you prepare.Did you take a workshop and where did you take it? What part of the country did you take the CPNE?
