Excelsior/Pre-Req's?!?!?!?

Published

Anyone out there do their pre-req's through Excelsior??? Not sure if I should do the rest at a local Community College or just do everything at EC?!? Advice..................

Also....Anyone do the Online Conferences through EC? If so, what were they like???

Thanks in advance....

Since I have already take A&P I and II EC will waive the MIcro Class? If this is true, I can go ahead and taking Nursing I.

I did almost all my pre's through Excelsior, they are cheap, and obvious they accept them. It also gets you used to their format of knocking out the tests.

You can start your nursing courses without all your pre's. At a certain point you have to enroll. I took two of my pre's after all my nursing courses because I used the time I was waiting for my clinical test date. If I had taken them before, it would have pushed my test date forward.

I agree clep is cheap and easy, but they also suck. They are poorly written and I found hard to take. I took one clep and barely passed, while all the EC courses I took I did well on, and enjoyed them more.

Thanks for the tips medic. That's a great idea to take some prerequisites during the waiting period for CPNE.

For anyone that is in the program, is the "budget worksheet" pretty accurate?

I understand my projected cost (before 6/30/07) to be this:

enrollment: $895

NC1: $220

NC3-6: $880

Foundations of professional practice: $220

CPNE: $1725

annual fee: $500 (assuming it takes me more than 1 year but less than 2)

Graduation fee: $495

total minus materials: $4935

I'm wondering if they will charge me to transfer my credits for prerequisites, because I have most of them through my local university.

Evaluation of your credits/transfer courses is covered by your enrollment fee and yearly administrative fee. Each time I accomplish something and they add it to my transcript or change my transcript in some way, they always send me a free copy of the update, which I find helpful.

There is no substitute for Information Literacy..It is a required course given by EC..One credit and I think around $300.00..total waste of time and energy but required, so it just has to be done..it is very doable..As I printed out the sections I read and highlighted and tabbed..I started on a Tuesay evening, had Wednesday off and worked on it all day, worked Thursday, came home and reviewed for about an hour and just took the exam..it is 50 questions "open book"..I got a 98%..it has to do with card catalog, how to search the internet, plagerism etc...like I said a waste of good time and money, but no way to get around it..

You can do it..
