Hi. Has anyone had any experience with the new Excelsior exams, "Essentials of Nursing Care" rather than the "old" nursing concepts, and the new 3-part assimilations exam?

Well I notice that the textbooks are different. From what you know of the old nursing concepts, is there much difference. Do you think the textbooks for nursing concepts will suffice for the new exams? TIA

I bought the college network books for NC4-7. From what I can tell you need to follow the EC guide for the new test because some of the information has been switched around. Alot of the info is still the same. There are new sections that have been added that is not in the NC test.

I suggest you buy the fundamentals book(previous edition is cheaper). By the med-surg,maternity,psych and peds book. That is really all you need. Studygroup101 notes are pretty good also. Oh and invest in EC practice test!!!!!!! Good Luck!

I personally prefer Studygroup101 but to be honest, I kinda look at it but mostly use TCN modules I bought off ebay and the recommended reading. You should buy the fundamentals book off half.com.I paid $20 for it and that is mostly what I used for that test. I didn't know about the study guides when I took the test. Good luck!

does fundamentals of nursing by kozier has all the material for the excelsior exams? or do we need additional text books. and the study guides you mentioned are studygroup101 material right or are there additional study guides. and finally where do we study from for the new fcca exam.

The fundamentals book will get you started on the first few exams but there are additional books to buy like the meg surg, peds, maternity, and psych. They are listed when you click on the book store icon when you register for the course. There is not material to study for the FCCA at this point. They should be ready by the end of the summer. You can become eligible for the CPNE if you finish ahead of time but there is no getting around the test.
