Excelsior Microbiology study tips

Hi there,Long time reader, first time poster. I've been trying to get into studying for micro but having a hard time organizing the info. I bought micro demystified and the studygroup101 notes. I like the book, but I don't care for how the study group notes are set up. I rented the suggested textbook but it's a hard read. Just wondering what anyone else used for micro that helped them. I'm doing this while my bf is deployed and want to be at least close to being done as possible before he gets home in 9-12 months. Thanks!

he's talking about the college network which publishes study guides for the excelsior exams. what he's saying is, don't sign up for their service, but buy their study guide from ebay or somewhere.

Ok I just bought the CN Micro book thanks alot! Im getting the hang of it slowly but surely..

If you want to hear the lecture you can go to iTunes U on the regular iTunes. Do a search for Microbiology. There are several classes offered. I'm currently using Biol 100: Basic Microbiology HACC. So far is going on with the Excelsior guide and it's free. I'm downloading a few more to listen to also.

I made hand written flashcards and I have flashcards on Studystack.com. I will send you the link. I got a B on the Micro exam and I learned something. I carried the flashcards with me everywhere. When I was near a computer I was studying my online cards.

No, it's not all I used. I used a Micro textbook, Microbiology made easy and a used college network study guide to make my flashcards. That is how I learned the material. I also took the EC practice exam which was much harder than the actual exam (in my opinion).

Hey there! I am currently studying for excelsior micro bio exam can you please help. I ordered SG101 and its like one thousand pages. I was reading the other day and someone mentioned that the test was geared towards medical and not science. Is there any truth to that?

I don't remember as far as medical or science, micro is micro, but the sg101 is a lot of stuff to help, and you need to be able to sort through it. personally I printed out the powerpoint slides (all the chapters) and studied those among other documents, as well as a few other books I think I posted earlier in this thread last year.

So, I've been reading sg101 for about 4 weeks and I think Im finally ready to take this micro exam. Can anyone offer some advice please.

I heard it's not that bad....they say it's pretty straight to the point....i'm almost ready too....I am paying for it tomorrow hopefully I can get a date for a week and a half away. Good Luck!! Are you taking micro too??
