Not sure about the whole finding things after graduation thing, as I am still attending. BUT---as another military spouse, also look into the 'My Career Advancement Account'....the DOD pays for all exam fees, including FCCA and CPNE. So if you take all 8 nursing exams+FCCA+CPNE=~4200 that you dont have to pay. I havent compared it to the new pricing option though...The MyCAA will cover up to 6000 and is VERY easy to apply for. If you want further help with it, just let me know. Good luck with your choices.

Being an Excelsior grad is not the problem. Being a new grad from any school would be the problem. Employers do not distinguish between schools when they hire nurses. They look at the status of your license and whether or not you have experience. For that matter, nurses with experience are having a hard time finding jobs. So don't let any reservations about the school you choose to attend, keep you from reaching your goal of becoming a nurse.

Of course---thats what were here for, to give a little and get a little. You probably havent heard about it because its pretty new---it was only for army wives (or something like that) for about a year and then in May of this year they opened it up to all military spouses and I think some coast guard and reserves as well (not quite sure of all of the requirements). I heard through the School Liason at the Airman Family Readiness Center on our base. Called to find out about the different school int he area because my son is starting kindergarden and ended up with $6K for school---pretty good deal. Go to militaryonesource.com for more info.

Hello All!
I'm really interested in Excelsior Lpn-Rn right now being I'm a military wife with a deployed husband and 1 yr old. I really like the new payment option if you finish within a year. My home state is Michigan, which currently is accepting Excelsior, and is where I would more then likely take my NCLEX.
The only thing holding me back right now is doing the year, paying that $$$, taking & *passing* the nclex, and then no one hiring me bc I'm an Excelsior grad and not a community college/university grad with not having the clinical hours. Has anyone ran into this problem at all?
Thanks for any input!!!
