I have recently applied to St Lukes Hospital and interviewed for the position and was told that I was no longer being considered because their "system" did not recognize online programs. Has anyone else had this problem in the Houston area.
Thanks for responding.
FYI, I was a LVN for 6yrs and RN for 7 years.
I have never had this problem before I grad in 2003 and was and LVN for 6 yrs. It was just shocking to here that b/c I didn't go through a tradition program I would not be considered.
I'm sorry, I missed the part where you've already been an RN for a number of years! My bad. So yes, that is ridiculous for them to reject you.

Wow - I share your surprise that this would come up after you have several years experience as an RN. I'm sorry for what you're going through. I'm wishing you the best.
I faced a lot of scrutiny when applying for my first nursing job five years ago, especially since I came from an EMS background and wasn't an LVN. I had to come back for a second interview, but I still got the position. About a year ago I applied for my current job at a large Houston hospital and they asked a lot of questions about my experience but never even brought up where I went to school.
I guess it wouldn't do any good to let them know that Excelsior College is not really an "online" program, huh?
