Hey thanks guys :) I am all done with everything but the CPNE....studying currently for it. I have a date for March 11th, at Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse, NY. Where are you guys in the program? What have you used to study for the CPNE? I have used Rob's dvd, Excelsior's study guide, and flash cards.

I'm from NY but currently studying for H&S. Can you tell me how long from the date you applied for the CPNE did you get your date? Also do you have any advice for someone starting out? Thank you and congrats on getting this far. :)

They say it can take like 2-3 months just to receive a date after applying, but I received one in a few days! I don't know how or why?? but I was thrilled! AND my date was only 3 months away! They offered me a sooner date- Feb 18, as someone had cancelled but I was too scared. I want the 3 months to study! I figure it took me about 4-6 wks to complete and study for each of my other tests, and they were 3 credit courses, so I want to give myself adequate study time for this 8 credit test! My only advice would be to make flash cards, take the practice tests, and only take the tests when you feel READY, do not rush just to get them over with. Just think you have plenty of time to complete all the courses and you want to PASS, so take your time! I rushed on my very last test, Transition to RN role, and failed my first attempt. I repeated it and passed, thankfully, but made sure I really knew the material second time around. Remember, no matter how much you feel you know all the material, you may not get an A every time. The tests are hard, and you still have to apply critical thinking, and priorities! I really appreciate the way their tests are set up though, because they prepare you for the boards. Good luck!!

How quickly you get your date depends on the region to which you apply. If you apply to NPAC, they seem to move more quickly -- they have the most test sites. :)
