Nursing Students Excelsior

Published

I am a paramedic in Northeast PA considering Excelsior and/or TCN. I've heard horror stories of hospitals, particularly one system in and around Harrisburg that refuses to hire nurses with "non-traditional" degrees. What I'm hoping for in this forum is to hear from some folks in the Commonwealth who've successfully completed this program and hear about where it is you work and what you're doing! I mean no disrespect, but I'd like to know that an investment like this will yield worthwhile opportunities! This forum seems active so I'm hoping for quick and encouraging results :) Thanks everyone!!

Specializes in EMS, ED, Trauma, CEN, CPEN, TCRN.

I would caution you against signing any contracts with TCN: Test preparation or predator? The College Network scrutinized in several states

There are a few folks from PA around, hopefully they will chime in. Good luck!

Specializes in Complex pedi to LTC/SA & now a manager.

TCN is not a school. They are a very expensive publisher. They are neither affiliated nor endorsed by EC. They are not qualified to advise you in admissions or academics. All costs are in addition to EC's required fees & costs. As they are unaffiliated they cannot guarantee that their study guides are accurate for the challenge exams. Since they are not a school they cannot offer financial aid, all "aid" is in the form of high interest private loans with an affiliated credit union that must be repaid regardless if you even attempt EC.

Buyer beware

Chambersburg Hospital was working with their LPN's to complete Excelsior to become RN's. I think you can become licensed in PA through Excelsior. There are also LIVE RN programs designed for paramedics. Here is one not far from MD/ PA border.

Prerequisite - Paramedic to RN Bridge
