New to Excelsior LPN to RN

Nursing Students Excelsior

Hi everyone I am a new LPN grad and have enrolled with Execlsior. I have a few concerns from other threads and I would like to hear from those of you who have passed CPNE and NCLEX and tell me how it was for you and if CPNE is as hard as some of the other people make it sound. The cost is another thing, do you just buy the study material and then pay for the test? They gave me a quote of 7400? How accurate is this? Thanks any comments would be appreciated!!!:kiss

Specializes in Complex pedi to LTC/SA & now a manager.

Just for clarification, WHO gave you a quote of $7400? Excelsior doesn't give quotes like that. Did you sign up through a third party, like Rue or The College Network, that are not affiliated with Excelsior College (no matter what their sales reps 'advisers' tell you)? Neither is necessary for success in Excelsior's LPN-ASN/RN program. In fact there are specific warnings on the Excelsior website against working with college network (a study guide publisher NOT a school or affiliate of Excelsior)

As far as study materials, you have free access to the exam content guides which explain what is needed to know for the testing with suggested text books and other learning materials. If you have your current LPN text books you may already have most of the information you need.

The admissions counselor at Excelsior that called me after I submitted my transcripts gave me the 7400 figure, he said it was an estimate. I am not going through a third party. I almost signed with RUE but decided against it after I read all the negative posts on here about it being more expensive. Thanks for the reply.

That estimate is about right once you add up the application $80

Enrollment 1015

Student annual fee 485 (if u go pass the July 1st following next year)

Graduation 495

Nursing theory exam 305x8 (7, if u are an LPN less than 5 years)

Optional practice test 75x8 ( almost all pay for these)

FCCA 330

Cpne 2145

TOTAL 7,590

now keep in mind to us who have enrolled last year that the fees were lower and go up EVERY year. Also if you don't want to register for any of the practice exams $75/each, you can deduct 600 for all 8 test. But those are valuable so I can't see someone not wanting to take them if finances permit you. Also if you have general eds to do, there is more fees to add. Don't want to sound discouraging with the cost, but it is good to know in advance to those who need to budget or want to compare the cost. Best of luck and remember all this hard work and money spent IS WORTH it in the end!!!
