I am a new grad of an LPN program......Also new to this site...I am interested in going to either a traditional college or EXcelsior College. EC would be better for me because I currently work in a hospital and when I pass my boards I'm thinking of working flex (8a-8p) three days a week. A traditional college would conflict with this schedule and the days at work change week to week. Been looking through all the threads about EC.....so confused. So need help......I have prereqs....I just need A&P 2 and Micro which i was thinking I would take at a traditional college this fall. Need info about the program at EC...heard some of the classes I could take without actually joining EC...which classes are those. Anyone in the same boat as me?......Can send me a private message. Need all the help I can get....Oh and heard if I sign up before Oct 07 I can skip couple classes?...Info on that too. Also Lifespan at EC...is that the same as Dev Psy....because I have that.....so many questons Ii know....but so interested.....so please help!
Thanks in advance:balloons::balloons::balloons::balloons::balloons:

first let me say welcome to all nurses..this is a great site and you will get lots of good info. ok about ec. you can get a free account at ec and have all the info mailed to you or view it online . you can also look at the pre -classes and get a idea of what you need and what you don't need ( only way to know for sure if to have your transcripts evaluated by ec) . the main nursing courses are concepts 1-7 , if you are a lvn/pn you can get credit for nc 2 . you can also take nc1 (and 2) before enrolling in ec after that you have to be a official student. there are changes coming october 1 and you want to be enrolled by then or you will have to take an additional concept test and there is a new three part assessment test that you will need to pass in addition to the cpne. the credits for concepts are also going from 4 credits to 3 . these changes take effect 10/1 and if you are enrolled by then you are ok but you also have to be finished by 9/30/09 ( or somewhere in there) or you will be required to fulfill the new requirements as well. ec is a great option for those that can't attend regular classes but you need to make sure your state bon will accept ec ... good luck to you...let me know if i can help more or answer any more questions
Thanks for all the info...awaiting EC to send me enrollment forms and such....I'll be needing your input in the future.

Any questions you have that you can't find answered on their website can be directed to EC through email or over the phone. Their personnel are friendly and helpful.
As far as whether or not particular courses are accepted, go ahead and have your transcripts sent in. They have to evaluate your transcripts anyway and they are very quick to send the results to you. I get evaluation updates usually within three weeks of submitting info to them.
Congratulations on your choice and best wishes for success.

I couldn't be happier with my decision to "attend" Excelsior.
Good luck!
