Are you certain this isn't from one of those programs that sells study guides for the exams?? If so, be very cautious and get some recommendations here before buying. Some of those are justy big books w outlines for you to look up the info and write it in yourself!

Since Excelsior doesn't administer these exams themselves, except the nursing exams, I don't think this offer is affiliated w the school.

Oh yeah, meant to say I got thru the BSN program w them. But, it was the most stressful time in my life. I am not an excelsior fan, and I don't want to comment publically, but you can feel free to pm me w any questions you have.

BTW for the research exam, I highly recommend The College Network study guide. It is complete and I got an A using just this study guide, on this exam.

I am still waiting to hear from Excelsior. I have to call them on another matter tomorrow. If I remember I will try to find out what is going on with this special at that time.

What is Don Raffield's position at Excelsior?

I truly hope for you this is true. I won't be able to take advantage of it myself as I am way past having that many exams to do. But I just am having a VERY hard time believing 12 courses for that price. Don't want anyone to get burned.

I am planning on using as many of the Excelsior College study guide programs - like the one for statistics. When I went through EC for my associate degree I used some study guides from an independent company and didnt feel it was the right way to go for me. I do appreciate the input about the research paper. Well if anyone comes across anymore useful information I would appreciate hearing it.

Excelsior directed me to istudysmart.com for purchase of the classes, but they [ec] decide which courses I need and set up the degree plan. I deal w/ a man named Don Raffield

OMG! you have been hoodwinked.

I was about to make my call to excelsior and I came back to get the name Don Raffield. When I saw this post.

istudysmart.com is NOT Affiliated and NOT APPROVED by Excelsior college. istudysmart.com is OWNED by MOORE publishing company. MOORE is one of the WORST for cleaning out your pocketbook.

I have had encounters with them myself but I knew they were a publisher and dealt very carefully.

I do not know who referred you BUT I GARENTEE IT WAS NOT EXCELSIOR.

Now listen very carefully. This is the ONLY way to contact Excelsior. Excelsior College

7 Columbia Circle

Albany, NY 12203-5159

Phone 1-888-647-2388

Fax 1-518-464-8777

http://www.excelsior.edu

Notice there is no .com. It it .edu. Excelsior college is part of the State University System of New Your State.

Please, contact excelsior directly. Moore is not selling anything more than thier own study matertial and is not sanctioned by Excelsior and does not give you anything you cannot get from excelsior. More may be selling study material at $499 but you will still have excelsior fees as they have nothing to do with excelsior.

They also lie to you and say that excelsior wants to to buy books that you do not need. So the tell you will save $$ with them. Excelsior Recomends books. And in MANY cases these books cost considerably LESS than what MOORE charges even at this so called special rate. I know I have checked it out.

My book for my last exam was $35 NEW.

They cannot save you anything you still have to pay excelsior fees and the exam fees. They say they will finance you. So go to excelsior and get a financial aide lone. I did.

They tried to take one person on this bulletin board to court for reselling a NEW unopened study guide. It was bought and paid for and was not ever even used. They persued him and threatened him. They can get very nasty. They are EXTREEMLY SNEAKY. They know that they are not allowed to represent themselves as Excelsior Affiliates however they continually MISLEAD about this.

I know many people who have used study material from Moore and other sources. I (but fully aware) checked them and several other publishers out myself before starting. I tried out a couple of guides from another publisher before I desided that they were not as good as what excelsior recomended.

If MOORE were more honest I would not feel so strongly about this. But the fact is many have been burned and they are not upfront about who they are and they do rob people.

Look through the archives of the board if you don't believe me. Go to Excelsior and talk to them.

One more thing. People from MOORE have come on this bulletin board and posed as students. When they have been discovered they have been kicked off.

Be careful. They do hang around here. The other publishers to my knowledge have not engaged in the deception that MOORE has.

I don't doubt the Brian would accept them as a sponsor if they approached him that way. However, they seem to think that it is more effective to be under handed in their promotions.

I have not doubt that they can afford to pay to advertise here.

$$ is not the issue. Deception is. Some how they apparently think it is better to pretend to be a student who just LOVES them and promonte themselves that way.

Brian if I am wrong, correct me.

Good warning agnus!! I have had my suspicions about a number of people posting in these forums who may be instructors or publishers of these so-called study guides. You are absolutely right about the add'l fees, the only thing most of these companies are is huge rip-off artsists!!
