There are a number of older threads here about folks' experience (good and bad) with RUE; it would be well worth your time to do a search and read through them. Please research and consider your decision carefully before signing up with RUE; there is very little chance you would be able to get out of the contract if you change your mind later -- you will be financially obligated to them for a long time.
A quick "Thank You" to those who responded. I got just what I needed. It never occurred to me to do a search for Rue and another for EC. I've been in contact now with EC and I am applying today. Then I am off to ebay to check for cheap texts, study guides, etc. I am so excited!! My childhood dream is on its way to coming true!!!

I'm sorry if this has been asked a million times before, but I'm new here and need advice. I graduated LVN school in 1984 and would really like to get my RN at this time. I've researched Rue, The College Network, and Excelsior. Do I really need to spend the extra money to get the study guides from Rue, etc? I want to finish as quickly as I can, but also not spend $12,000.00. Community college is out as I need to work and have some flexibility. I have 9 hours of prereq. that will transfer. The publishing companies, of course, imply that their's is the ONLY way. Can I still succeed with Excelsior alone? Sorry this is so long, but I would love to hear from those who have done this and can speak from experience. Thanks a bunch.
