Excelsior ADN degree and CA bsn

Published

Hello,

Has any one received an ADN degree with excelsior college and later became a California board license nurse after completing an ADN to BSN bridge here in California. People are telling me that is the shortcut to getting registered through California board of nursing if you hold an ADN degree from excelsior. Please advise.

Thank you

Have any of the people telling you that actually been successful in getting a CA license via that route?

Unless something has changed recently, California, like every other US state, bases licensure decisions on the pre-licensure program that originally qualified you for licensure. If that program doesn't meet the state's standards, you're not going to get a license, and no other nursing education you complete later ever changes that, because any other, further nursing education you complete doesn't include any additional basic nursing content. If the California BRN has recently changed its position on that, that would be a huge change.

Thanks for the comment! This really helped.

There is this program call Distance learning systems that helps you obtain an out of state license in california but they seem very skeptical.

Distance Learning Systems is a scam. They CANNOT help you in any way gain licensure in CA as an Excelsior grad. Most states have pending lawsuits against them by the Attorney General.

Thanks for your feedback. Your contribution prevents those from being manipulated by programs like DLS.
