I have had my fair share of horrible teachers. I've also had my fair share of WONDERFUL teachers who's investment in my education will have an impact on my life forever.
*Evil teacher number 1: "Your questions are stupid and it's not my job to answer them. Go read your book."
- Uhhhhhhh... maybe I've just been trippin' for like the past two decades (my whole life), but isn't it the teacher's job to answer our questions?!
*Evil teacher number 2: "I don't understand why the class started out with 38 students and you 5 are the only ones left. Are students really that stupid these days?" Yeah, she really said that. To the class.
- Once again, a teaching issue. When you start out a class with 30+ students and end up with a handful, maybe you should consider that it's not them - it's you. Just saying...
*Awesome teacher number 1: "Dear students, you are the few who passed the first exam with an A! I am so proud of all of you, as I've had you for multiple classes and have developed a little soft spot in my heart for all you hard workers! You guys are awesome."
-This lady... is the bomb.com. If you need to know of a good A&P teacher at Calhoun Community College, AL - let me know. I'll give you her digits. We're tight.
*Awesome teacher number 2: Ok... let me explain the story first. My bio 103 teacher was a cool guy. Kind of a nerd.. with his nerd/biology humor that no one laughed at but me and my few aquaintances, but still a cool guy! So when I found a giant "Niel Young" spider in my garage (look it up.. that's the actual name. They're big. They rear up and jump, and they're scary as all get out.) I knew that he would appreciate it! So I brought it to class in a mason jar to the shock of the rest of my class, and have it to him as a gift. He still has it as a pet - I bet his wife was thrilled ;D
Anywho... said awesome teacher #2 told said evil teacher #1 that I was his favorite student with me standing right there to which she huffed and rolled her eyes because she hated me. Which is also awesome cause #2 happens to be the dean of something........ *win*

I LOVED my A&P I instructor. She has been the best prof I've had at Calhoun. My micro prof was awesome as well. He was extremely knowledgable and really wanted us to succeed.

My A&P proffessor was AMAZING! I learned so much from him and couldn't even imagine what A&P would have been like without him. He actually wrote the A&P book that the college uses so he had insider info :) He wanted everyone to succeed and made learning the material not only fun but simple. I loved him and truly feel like I have a solid basis for nursing because of his class.
My A&P 1 lecture teacher... Not so much. I remember holding up a bone and asking what something was and she just smiled and said "I don't know"!!! That was her response for every question. Um, why are you teaching A&P if you don't know what a tuberosity is....

I think I may have had one of these "Evil Teachers" for Micro at the Huntsville campus. I made a 57 on my first exam because she put things on the test that were not even covered! Needless to say I dropped the class, did it with someone else and made an A. Very funny though we have all had similar experiences :)

I am reasonably sure she knew, that was her way of saying "look it up, stupid".

Teachers are just as vulnerable to burnout as other 'people' professions. Keep this in mind as you continue down the path to nursing. True empathy is not conditional. "I can empathize unless the situation/person is having a negative effect on ME" Don't take it personally - you didn't cause it & you can't control it.
