I just purchased a MacBook Pro for school and really have no idea how to use it. I'd like to utilize it as much as possible since I spent so much money on it. And I keep hearing how helpful they are with notetaking and studying, I just really don't know where to start. I posted a thread in Pre-nursing also since I've not yet started nursing school, I'm taking my pre-req's. I keep hearing about Evernote and Onenote and was wondering which do you prefer and why? And is there a YouTube video that shows me how to use them? I'd like to record my lectures (I have an IPhone also) and incorporate that with my notes. Thanks for any feedback!
Hi Pmabraham, I see that you were in IT. Do you know how to code? :) I wanted to know if you have a recommended app that scan sections of a textbook and converts to audio clips? I'm a huge fan of "learning as you go"
I just saw your reply. I started off as a programmer; though I've not coded for the years I've been in nursing school as my focus is to complete nursing school. If you google, "scan text to audio" you might be able to find something that works.
My reply was from "Nov 10, '14." Here's an update... I used Evernote during my last few years of IT, during all of the prerequisites for RN school, and through 3 semesters of RN school. I've been using it over the summer, and plan to use it through the fall and onward. I really enjoy that it syncs between desktop, laptop, tablet, and smartphone.
Thanks for the reply. I realized that the key to time management is finding ways to reduce time consuming notes, textbook reading etc. I am a fan of talking to upper-class students and their "learn as you go" study skills. lol yes, coding intrigued me after watching one of my favorite movies "social network" I like nursing and love social media marketing.
