Hey everyone,

I was looking into during the nursing program at EVC and was wondering if they are doing a wait list for there ADN program or if entry is based on merit. Thanks for your time and any info would be great.

just the RN prog bc I don't have an LVN license--wish I did tho! By the way, De Anza lets in LVNs really quickly bc they fill in for the RN drop-outs. Apparently, depending on your amt of clinical experience as LVN, you may only have to do 1 yr and graduate with a degree at De Anza. If you're already an LVN, look into applying for De Anza as well.

Okay thanks for the advice! I am actually applying for the LVN program for Fall 2011. Crossing my fingers that I get in... But I am still looking for any and every piece of information about the programs in the area when I get to the point of bridging. Seems like there are many options though! That is nice.

Yes, you're in a really great position. You'll probably have no problem with placement. I've been encouraging others to do the same who haven't had much luck with the ADN lotteries or the merit based programs. If I don't get in this year I might go LVN and then RN myself. Good luck to you and keep us posted on your progress!

Hey guys,

I am finishing my prereqs this quarter and applying to a nursing program at de anza as well.

I have a question about Hesi exam. Did you find it difficult? Do I need to buy a book to prepare me for this exam?

Thank you

It was pretty easy but I would still buy the study manual and prepare for the test. Just focus on topics you feel you need to brush up on. Good luck!

It is always a good idea to buy the book to prepare for any exam - at least you know what to expect. I took both HESI and TEAS. HESI seemed easier - a lot easier than the study guide. TEAS 5 - was a lot harder. I think people were raving about how easy TEAS 4 was and now they came up with "updated" version, that was nerve breaking for me. After all said and done I passed both tests. TEAS from the first time. HESI - took two times. (My English vocabulary was not the best AND I didn't pay attention to the English part in the study guide). I have 3.5 GPA and my HESI was 95% and my TEAS 5 was 80%. HESI - I studied two weeks before the exam (crazy. don't do it.) TEAS - I studies a month and a half before the exam.

Hope this helps.

Thank you guys!

I passed the Hesi and applied to De Anza College and also going to apply everywhere else, with hope that some school will take me:) Candicen83 and Nastya did you guys got in in Evergreen? Good luck to all of you guys!

Hey mila sorry it took so long. All nurses stopped sending me email notices when people post to the same thread. Yes, I got into EVC as alternate and they guaranteed me a spot for spring if I didn't get added to Fall 2011. However, I also got into SF State so I chose SF State instead. Good luck and PM me if you have any questions :)

Hi Candicen83,

Thank you for the reply and congratulations to acceptance to SFSU, I applied there for Fall 2012 , hopefully I'll get in , if not,I just got the happy letter from Evergreen Valley College:) I am excited! After two years of hard work completing prerequisites, it feels good to be accepted for the RN program! How do you like SFSU nursing?

Again, thank you for your reply and congratulations on your SFSU acceptance!

Congrats Mila on getting in! I'm so excited for you. My friend just graduated from the EVC program and I know she really enjoyed it.

I love the particular SF State program I'm in. I get a BS in 20 months and I take my classes on the Canada college campus instead of having to drive to SF. The program is only 40 students in size so you feel you get a lot of attention. Can't really ask for more :)

Anyway, good luck with your apps and/or at EVC!
