Hello all,
I know there are already a couple of posts for this school, but reading through the threads I didn't get all the information that I was looking for and considering that they are pretty old threads I made a new one because I didn't think anyone would look at those anymore. I've already completed all my prereqs at a community college, but I don't want to wait around forever to get into the community college rn program.
Anyways, I wanted to find out for those who are already in the program or have the info. What kind of studying should I do for their entrance exam? What kind of stuff comes in the tests. I also would like to know the cost or estimated cost of the school. And how do they go about choosing the students for the program? What exactly is the application process?
I've already called the school, but the lady that answered the phone wasn't able to give me much info except for that info sessions are in August and the program starts up again in January.
And if you are already in the program, I would like to know how to do you find the teachers to be?? Would you say that this is a good academic choice??
Please help me as I live really far away from this school and I am moving out there just for the program. It is a little difficult for me to just drive over to visit the school. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!
Congrats Steph!
I hear their new testing process is harder so this is huge!
I, too, had no prior medical experience, so I knew I had to try extra hard. I had 3 letters of recommendation (2 professional, 1 personal), and (don't laugh) I had everything in plastic sheets in a clear front report folder. You definitely DON'T have to do that, but I heard I needed to "shine" and "stand out"--I figured it'd be hard to forget the nerd who went over the top with her resume. They also want to hear that you have a huge support system behind you. My interviewer kept asking what if's--I have a husband, son and part time job, so she kind of laid into me....in the nicest way possible, of course. jmira is right, they are all VERY nice! She made me comfortable enough to treat the interview more like a conversation.
In the end, just be patient and be yourself. This may be the longest few months of waiting...ever! I took the test on Sept 29, and was called in for the interview a month later for an interview in early Nov.
Good luck and congrats again!
Hey everyone,
I took my Hesi exam on the first day i could, it will be four weeks tomorrow since then, and im dying to get my call for an interview. Im worried though that i won't have enough time though for my essay. Jmira or Kimoleka do either of you remember how long they gave you to type it?
Hi I read article that tuition is about 52000 and they pack it and make it 3.
So every 8 months is about 18000 . Am I right?
Whoo that's quite sum of a money.
If there's any current student here,, how do you guys pay this tuition, I mean like I heard they have monthly cash option too
But 18000for every 8 months is too much.
And if did fafsa how much of each 8months cover?
Thanks

I dont remember exactly how long they give you but I recall it around 30 minutes. Believe me you will have plenty of time. I wrote 2 pages and had enough time. Congrats on passing the first round!! I tested the first day of my session, too and my appt was about 8 weeks later so hang tight :)

It doesnt quite work like that. The way its set up you get 3 academic years of fafsa and loans. the first 9 month term is a lot more units than the other 2.
1st packaging = 48 units (minus ones transferring)
2nd package = 39 units (again minus ones transferring)
3rd packaging = 28 units (minus ones transferring)
so any classes u have to transfer will make it a lot cheaper
For example my first 9 month package was somewhere around 20k (needed 44 of the 48 units) . I got full pell grant (6500) max federal loans (9500 for freshman) and took out a loan offered for the rest (appx 4k).
For next term it will be for less units and in addittion I was awarded a CAL grant for next academic year of 2k so after grants and full federal loans I should be about even with no extra loan. The last packaging term will be a lot easier financially.
Yes it is indeed a lot of $$$ but hopefully you will qualify for as much grant $ as you can as it helps me tremendously. Everything is included with the price so it does take a lot of stress off in that manner.
Kimoleka
hahaha I did that too!!! I had all my awards, and transcripts, and letters of recommendations in a binder with my name on it. I really went all out on my "portfollio".
As far as they are concerned about the essay they said that it can't be all long as they want to read it while they are infront of you interviewing you. the interview isn't hard at all. Mostly trying to get to know you. I felt like some of the questions were odd but not hard to answer at all.

Congrats on passing the Hesi! The next step is indeed the essay/interview process. For my process I tested the first possible day and interviewed nearly 2 months later. Be patient its a long process. When you arrive for your appt you will first type an essay on why you want to be a nurse. The minimum requirement is not very much, maybe 150 to 200 words. I suggest writing more. I did nearly 2 pages. I didnt have a lot of previous healthcare experience so I knew I needed to standout and writing more definitely can only help. From there you will have an interview. Dress professionaly like one would for a job interview at a nice place. My best advice is to answer honestly and let your personality shine through as much as you can. Try not to be nervous they are extremely nice.
I brought a strong letter of recommendation to my interview and Ive heard of a few others who did the same, so something along those lines would definitely help. Feel free to post any other questions you may have and good luck!
