Everest College Ontario RN program

Published

Hello all,

I know there are already a couple of posts for this school, but reading through the threads I didn't get all the information that I was looking for and considering that they are pretty old threads I made a new one because I didn't think anyone would look at those anymore. I've already completed all my prereqs at a community college, but I don't want to wait around forever to get into the community college rn program.

Anyways, I wanted to find out for those who are already in the program or have the info. What kind of studying should I do for their entrance exam? What kind of stuff comes in the tests. I also would like to know the cost or estimated cost of the school. And how do they go about choosing the students for the program? What exactly is the application process?

I've already called the school, but the lady that answered the phone wasn't able to give me much info except for that info sessions are in August and the program starts up again in January.

And if you are already in the program, I would like to know how to do you find the teachers to be?? Would you say that this is a good academic choice??

Please help me as I live really far away from this school and I am moving out there just for the program. It is a little difficult for me to just drive over to visit the school. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Is it a two year all year plan or is it per semester like college? If it's by semesters, how long are your breaks in between? Do they offer summer courses?

It is 2 full years and the classes are in "quarters" but technically they are not quarters since they are 12 weeks each. So I call them terms. The terms are 12 weeks each in length and the entire program is 8 terms and takes a full 2 years. Between each term you get 1 week off which is very nice. So yes you go year round, including summer time (its air conditioned). If you would like I can list all the classes for the entire program listed by term

I am not an LVN so I can not speak from experience. I have only heard that it is hard to enter an RN program at the LVN bridge point. The majority of the classes we are taking are specifically for RN. I am not sure what your scedule would be like for LVN but im assuming the only things you could transfer would be a&p 1 and 2 and microbiology if they are in your LVN classes and all have labs. Also some of the general ed might be transferrable to the RN. Again I do not know the LVN schedule of classes but I do have LVNs in class whose sciences didnt have labs and they have to take them again now at Everest.

I would just hate for you to spend upward of 30k for LVN and then have to pay another 52K for the RN program. There are a lot cheaper LVNs out there. Also if you took all your general eds at a CC until the RN you could save yourself a good deal of $$$

I talked to the director and he said that I wouldn't be paying for the LVN and the RN program. If I were to do the bridge I would pay the difference between the RN and LVN program. LVN is around 38k I think and RN is I'm guessing 52k so I would pay almost the difference.

They said that the first year of the RN program is the LVN program. Is that true?

Thank you but I have the booklet of classes which I think is the same as the course you are taking right now

Thank you though.

No The third term is when we start our core RN classes. This is at 6 months in. Before that point is all the sciences and most of the general eds

I just looked at the Downey Adult School lvn progam and their program costs 9995 not 2000 dollars.

Wow thats a lot. I know someone who did it in like 07 or 08 and said it was only 2k. Times change

They also accept Financial Aid so if you qualify for the full amount, you're out of pocket would only be a lil over 3k

How is the RN program to those who are taking it at the Ontario Metro?

I am now considering West Coast University. I don't know which school to choose and which one is better.

I'm reading negative and positive reviews about Everest but when I called Everest Ontario Metro, the people there are soooooo nice and helpful so that really helps.

I wonder how WCU is...

WCU is a 3-year BSN program and is almost 3 times as expensive. That's all I know.

I love Everest so far--they've been great...to me, at least. The advanced nursing students are also very supportive. One girl came in to talk to our professor (who everyone just adores), and she told us they're all willing to help if we ever feel we need some tutoring. She also offered some insight to the more advanced nursing courses.

I also love that the nursing admin, considering the number of students that walk into her office, remembers us all by name. Just one of those things I doubt we'd get at a JC.

So far as well I am really enjoying the program! Our instructor for a&p is wonderful and the way he explains everything makes it stick in your head. He also relates everything to nursing. Hes a very good teacher.

I have been to Westcoast for an orientation and it was extremely nice and modern inside. It was the (Anaheim location). The woman who led it was very nice and smart. It is BSN only now, they stopped offering ADN. The cost though was horribly out of my league. At the time I went (Jul 10) it was 126,000 and it does NOT include books (another 700ish every 2 quarters) and there was also another fee I dont remember what for though. The price only includes tuition and uniforms. It is a 3 year accelerated program and the way they set it up if u have classes to transfer you most likely wont have much (if any) credited off of your price.

Everest is not cheap but for their ADN and transferring to UOP after for BSN for both is about half the cost of West Coast. Every school whether everest or west coast or a jc is gonna have its pros and cons.

I was wondering what the interview process is like? I took the Hesi last week and passed, was told I would be called for an interview. Is there anything I can do to "stand out?" And also I was wondering about the essay they have you take?

Thanks:)

Hi Steph99,

I took the HESI early this month and passed also. In the beginning of the thread it says the essay is suppose to be about why you want to be a nurse. I forgot how many words its suppose to be though...I think 150 words. Good Luck !!!
