im in the rn program of everest college... jan 09 start. i transfered almost all the non nursing classes except for A&P2, american lit, and college algebra...that saved me alot of money... so from jan to july im basically taking 2 classes each quarter. and the clinicals for my class starts this july...

Everest College is not accredited by any of the major accreditation institutions. You cannot transfer credit. Meaning, if you live in Florida and enroll in the program in Brandon and then you move to Texas and plan to attend a different college your time at Everest was wasted. That right there should tell you something. Another question to ask yourself is if you plan to further your education. Will Everest prepare you with an academic foundation strong enough to perform well in a BSN program? What about your Masters Degree? Are you going to have your basic skills in the world of academia from Everest?
Everest also offers a medical transcription program. In MT we all know that if you want a serious MT career you need to attend Andrews or M-Tec. I attended one of those. Everest College's MT program is a joke. It does not prepare you to pass the RMT or CMT exam and you frequently find MTs from Everest on the MT boards wondering why they cannot find a job. They are the students who usually post with poor grammar and spelling which is not acceptable in the MT world. If this is the education they provide an MT, well then I hate to think of what they are doing for nurses.
I can certainly see the appeal to Everest of cousre. With 4 young children and moving around frequently, it could take me 5 years to earn a 2-year degree! That said, I know that I want a quality education regardless of how long it takes.
That is just my irrelevant two cents.

If a school has to run continuous ads on TV to attract its students, shouldn't that raise a red flag? Notice also the time slots and programming during which these ads run ... never do you see them running during prime time ... very different target audiences. Everest ranks up there with University of Phoenix and Kaplan University in my book, I would never count on them to teach me anything about nursing.

Dont go to Everest, they are just not reliable
i heard good things and bad things.....my gpa is not that high and i dont know any other program beside the everest college in ontario metro.....so my MT.SAC credits cant be transfered??????
you have to talk to the school, i have no idea
thanks winnie, i saw ur other post from before about wanting to go to everest. what happen with that?
yes, i was interested before, so i called the school, but people there seem know nothing. Every time I asked a question, they said they dont know. And one thing I really concerned is the units I get in Everest maynot be transferrable. I want my MSN some point in the future.
So, I decide not to go.

Here's a link to an interesting recent article in the St. Peterburg Times about the Everest nursing program:
