Okay I am hoping that this doesn't get confusing. The school that I applied to requires an english score of 63.3, I got a 60. The thing that I am not understanding is this: On the subcatergories I got a 66.7, in all three of the sections, how does that end up being a 60?? I understand that I isnt a direct average of the scores but you would think that it would still be in the the range of my score? Especially considering I scored the same score in each subcategory. For example: On the national average they received a 64.8, 60.1,and a 69.5 for the subcategories and an overall English score of 63.8. Not only did I score higher in two out of three of the sections, it is also somewhere between the highest and lowest score. I did really well overall on the TEAS if it wasn't for this one section!Has anyone ever heard of there being an error on their score? I tried to call ATI but they are closed today and I feel like an idiot questioning it. HELP! Thank you!

I took my TEAS on Saturday and also noticed I was scored down in English. It scored me at 76.7 overall but my 3 individual scores were 86.7, 77.8, and 83.3. It should have averaged out to 82.6. I don't understand how they score, but I feel like I got kind of screwed, considering I was 0.3% short of getting 3 points towards my program admission.
I just got off the phone with ati. They didn't really give me any information but they said that I can contact that school and request a rescore of I feel that there was an error.
Really? They didn't say anything about scoring down because of the national average or some bull?

The overall score is not calculated by simple averaging. There are 16(I believe) subcategories within the main categories. If you scored really low in one subcategory (say sentence structure or something) it would bring down your complete overall score but not necessarily the score in that category. If you google TEAS scoring interpretation there are sites that explain it really well. Here is one I found.

The link didn't work initially sorry!
Ahh thank you. I tried to Google it but I guess I wasn't using the correct mix of words.
No they didn't give me any info really. I understand that's not an average. I don't think I'm being clear. I'm only talking about the English grade. The three categories just in the English section seem to be incorrect. I got a 66.7,66.7 and a 66.7. The overall English grade (not the overall teas score) came to a 60. Regardless on how things are weighted I don't see what would bring it down from a 66.7 if all the scores were equal. im still waiting to hear back from my school to see if they will resubmit it.

I am not sure if this will help but I would contact someone in the nursing department where you are applying. I am applying here in Florida to University of North Florida where I was told that they calculate our scores in an excel spread sheet and you may actually have more points then the percentage indicates. I do not understand their logic on how they obtain these scores but what you said truly makes no sense.

It looks like this is some "educational/testing" corporation that controls your TEAS results? Why doesn't the institution you're applying to do this?
I am STRUGGLING TO GET A SIMPLE CNA CERTIFICATION back from a company called Pearson Vue and it's a nightmare. It's all about getting your money by requiring you to retest! to get into your program.

I feel the same way. It looks like there is a discrepancy in my reading score. We ar praying for the rest so, they don't have to discuss the score with us but we are entitled to know on what basis this scores are being computed.
