ER Patients

I NEED TO VENT!!!

Why do patients come to the ER at 12am in the morning with C/P that has been happening for 3 days. They get the initial workup, hooked up to the monitor, lab draws, cxr, ect..etc... and c/o about getting woke up from their sleep for these things. I mean they get mad and roll their eyes. :argue:

R U SERIOUS!!!!! That's what I'm screaming in my head. Im sorry If getting DX with an MI is inconvient for you this am. Y do these people even come in and THINK they that they are at the Sheraton and will get a good nights rest. DUHHHHHH!!!!!

Sometimes I wish people would use common sense and kindness. If I had it my way I won't be in your room at 1am drawing blood to help save ur life. I could be at home getting me some sleep, so in the morning I can wish my kids a good day before they go to school.

Well litsen to this. I was in triage last h.s., and a frequent indigent came in for a laceration to his foot. Well I was out of 4x4's and stepped into the 2nd triage room to grab some. Well when I walked back into the room the damn sob was eating my bag of chips and drinking my diet dew!!! Now I've heard stories and seen things before but this took the cake.. The strange thing was the guy was'nt even drunk. Well Homey Don't Play That! I called security stat.. I told them he was going threw my stuff.

Argh I'm going in for some cheap entertainment tonite and .. .did you ever just have that feeling before you go in, that you just KNOW you're gonna be in triage? LOL Got that feeling right now.

Cyas in the AM - do you think we should contact SNL or Mad TV to come shadow us for a shift? Just think of the material they'd get! Bah HIPAA, I forgot.

I have a question...when it comes to parents, refusing to give Tylonal, and being negligent in getting a prescription filled...at what point should the hospital call it neglect and call Social Services?

I'm not saying the child needed to be taken away, but I know if I got a call from Social Services, I would probably take that as a wake-up call that I was doing something seriously wrong.
