Starting Own Practice as a NP***

Nurses Entrepreneurs

Published

Hello allnurses,

I would like to hear from anyone that has started their own practice as a NP. I'm considering going back either for WHNP/ FNP. If anyone is out there I would like any advice, experience, information regarding this process. This is something I would like to do in the far future. It's important for me to incorporate some form of naturopathic medicine in my practice. In my own experience the only options that are being offered are medications and surgeries. I would like to incorporate a plan that starts with trying to heal the body naturally, then explore medications and other things if necessary.

Thanks in advance :)

I haven't done it but I am acquainted with several NPs that have done so successfully. Your first step is to find out what the practice act says in the state where you intend to practice. Then you will need a sound and flexible business plan, liquid capitol, and credit arrangements. I don't think it matters if you want to practice voodoo or by the book EBP, so long as you can support your business plan with market research data supporting what you want to do.
