I'm about to start my final semester of nursing school, and unfortunately I made 2 C's this previous semester. This brought my NURSING GPA down from a 3.2 to a 2.96. However, my OVERALL GPA of all the classes I've taken outside of nursing school and nursing courses combined remains at about a 3.1.
Most of the New Grad Residency/Internship programs around here require a 3.0 or higher. My question is, will they look at just my Nursing GPA or my Overall GPA? Also, I will be able to bring it back up to a 3.0 after my last semester, would they consider that when I'm applying during the semester?
I am just worried that I won't be able to find a job once I graduate. Thanks in advance!

They usually look at both, with nursing school being a stronger focus. Going from a 2.96 to a 3.0 is certainly possible if you work really hard this term. They may consider the GPA if you apply when it is less than required, hard to say. Unless it is an internship, a regular floor position doesn't really call for a high GPA as much as valid licensure. Good luck, you can do it!

Check with the residency admission criteria - the specifics should be listed. Some of the residencies also require your exit test scores.... so if you ace this, it could offset GPA concerns.
Wishing you a great last semester & wonderful start for your career.
It turns out I made all C's this semester and my gpa is a 2.8... I'd don't think I'll be able to get into any residency programs.

I would probably look for some programs that don't consider GPA. Maybe a different area.

There are quite a lot of nursing residency programs that don't require a GPA, actually! Definitely try out-of-state residencies!

You don't have to list your GPA on your resume if you don't want to but if you do just list your cumulative GPA. My nursing GPA was 2.75 and cumulative GPA was 3.1 and I had a ton of interviews and got a job offer. Now obviously on a job application if they ask for both, list both. But on your resume put whatever is highest. Honestly I don't think I even specified cumulative on my resume, and only some places will ask for your transcript. And just because a place lists a preferred GPA doesn't mean you can't still get the job, still apply, worst they can do is say no.
