Hello everyone,
I am a IEN and completed all the requirement for RN registration in Ontario except the language proficiency. I got required scores in other sections of Ielts but unable to to achieve more than 6.5 in writing(The required score is 7). I also explore other option like CELBAN but there is no online preparation material for it. I found good resources for IELTS and CELBAN, however they are mostly in Toronto and I live in Ottawa. I was just wondering if anyone can help me with this because I don't have much time left to complete my registration requirement.

If you are not able to demonstrate language proficiciency through the results of your language proficiency test, read CNO Language Proficiency: Other Types of Evidence, it provides a list of other ways that you may show proof of language proficiency.
Ihave applied to the registeration meeting to exempt the language requirement on the basis of my working experience in Canada in the medical field and as a cashier. They took six month for whole process and when I got the decision, they reject my evidences. They ask me to give language exam before my practice expires, otherwise I have to start my application again. It seems like they are so unfair with some people because I know some people they got exemption.

There are several grammatical errors in your post. If your written English is an indicator of your spoken English, it just doesn't meet the professional level needed in nursing.
shona, have you checked if Algonquin college offers IELTs prep courses?
Have you checked if there are free ESL courses offered through LINC in Ottawa? and/or the YMCA?
Have you checked the Ottawa public library? Does the library offer free IELTs tutoring? online resources? books?
I got 7.5 in all the ielts section and but my score in writing was 6.5. I know I have to improve my writing but the problem is the lack of sufficient time in the writing task of ielts.
Thanks Dishes! YMCA told me that I have to take advance courses and they only have TOFEL in that category. They do it have ielts course. I also went to algonquine with my test scores and they suggested that i don't need a full course. They gave me option for one to one tutoring on writing. I found celban content easier than ielts but unfortunately there is no preparation material.

Thanks dishes for your help. Do you have any information regarding CELBAN?
No, sorry I don't have any information about CELBAN, the test taking strategy booklet and readiness test are available on the CELBAN website, but you probably already know that. Can you take the one writing session with the IELTs tutor at Algonquin? Can the tutor recommend any CELBAN resources?
@ ien.p I have two suggestions for online self directed learning that may help you prepare for CELBAN
iEnglish online inc has free, online, interactive activities that can be accessed through their website without registration, it is based out of Winnipeg and apparently some of the IENs who live in Manitoba have used it to study for the CELBAN.
freenursetutor com offers several nursing student interactive activities, the assessement/charting activities allow you to practice head to toe assessments, write narrative charting and compare your narrative charting to the standard, (this may help you with your writing skills).

Thank you dishes, I found these websites really helpful.
You are welcome, another online English tutorial is English for Health com, the nursing course contains 40 hours of instruction but unlike the other two I recommended, it is not free.
When will you be writing your exam?
