English 1A class asap holding me back....

Published

I have all my courses needed for the nursing program. I received a B in English 1A and was told at my community college that I needed an A in English 1A to apply for the R.N. program. I am not allowed to retake the English class at my community college until August 2012. I really wanted to apply in March 2012 for the chance of getting into the R.N. program for either August 2012 or Jan 2013, I can't believe that one class is keeping me from applying, if I wait and take this English class August 2012 at my community college that means I won't be applying for the R.N. program until March 2013 for possible entrance in either August 2013 or Jan 2014. Is there any ideas out there on how to take an English class now and be done with it before March 2012?

:sniff:

Thanks in advance for all advice.

I would check out Excelsior for thier exam or another online school. Many community colleges have this course online and it may not be to late to get into the spring semester. The good thing about the Excelsior exams is that you can take a test pretty quick usually and alot of schools take their credits. Good luck.

Thanks LaxNurse, I looked into the Excelsior college and the next English course isn't until March and lasts 15wks, so that is too late. I also looked into the exam and for some reason they don't offer an exam for the English class I need....

You should be able to pick that course up at any college. It may be to late to do the financial pt of things so you might have to pay for it out of pocket but I think you could do it.

Some colleges have Distance Learning classes "Independent Learning" that do not follow the traditional semester timeline. They start when you enroll and you have up to 1 yr to complete. You can complete them in a couple of months since everything is online if you are motivated. The only drawback is that some require you to take the exams at a Prometric Testing center. If you have one close to you that should not be a problem. Just make sure the college offering it is accredited and will transfer. Good Luck!!
