English 1A class asap holding me back....
I have all my courses needed for the nursing program. I received a B in English 1A and was told at my community college that I needed an A in English 1A to apply for the R.N. program. I am not allowed to retake the English class at my community college until August 2012. I really wanted to apply in March 2012 for the chance of getting into the R.N. program for either August 2012 or Jan 2013, I can't believe that one class is keeping me from applying, if I wait and take this English class August 2012 at my community college that means I won't be applying for the R.N. program until March 2013 for possible entrance in either August 2013 or Jan 2014. Is there any ideas out there on how to take an English class now and be done with it before March 2012? Thanks in advance for all advice.

HAYWARD
I asked the guy I was talking with, he said that he wasn't sure, he thought it was Brown's University but when I looked that up only a Brown's out of the country came up. So I'm not sure. He knew that I was going for an RN, so I don't think it was an LVN program he was talking about. He just explained that several students that take CPR classes with them had mentioned this school and with trying to get ino local colleges they had no luck either, so they applied to this school and got right in.

HAYWARD
Has anyone heard of a private college in Hayward, Ca that has an R.N. program. I was told from my local American Red Cross, that Hayward has a private college that accepts RN all the time. He said that some how the college will accept you no matter what semester their current RN program is at. For an example, he said that if you apply and the nursing program is already going into their second semester the school will let you do the second, third, fourth semester and then go back and do the first semester. I don't know if this is true, but if anyone has any information that would be great. Thanks

NOW or WAIT???
OK so I have put my story on a couple of threads at different times about different things so you might already read about my story. I have tried 3 times into nursing school at local colleges can't seem to get in for different reasons (mainly my poor GPA) so now I switched to a private school and I'm going to see if I have better luck with 'that. The advice I need from you guys is..... My husband see's how hard it's been for me trying to getin the program. My life is hectic right now without even going to school. I have 2 children ( 4 yo and a 10 month). And I work full time. He mentioned the other day that maybe it would be a good idea for me to wait until the children are in school full time ( So elementary school) because of babysitting issues that we will have. My first response was, I want to be an RN and want to get my school done, and start my career. I don't want to wait 5 yrs from now, and have to retake all my prereqs over again. (Majority of the RN programs I have seen prefer your prereqs done within 5 yrs of applying). My next response was maybe he is right. ( Along with my brother-in-law who's wife already went through the program working part time without any kids). Maybe if I wait and in the mean time take 1 class at a time and in the next 3 or 4 years retake my prereqs for the RN program I could possibly bring my GPA up and maybe be able to apply at my local college ( which is a big difference in price from $53,000 at private school to 4,000 at local college. What would you do???? Thanks In advance

RT to RN online programs?
That Excelsior College mentioned earlier, states that you can get an AS in nursing if you are a RT.

Confused about what path to choose
I'm not in your area so I'm not sure how it works around you, but where I am I looked into doing the LPN to RN bridge program as well. I found that it is actually harder to get into a LPN school bridge program than an RN program. For instance, the community colleges bridge programs say on line that they only accept applicants when they have space available in their RN program. Now when will that be?? Probably never. So my advice would be to search your local LPN bridge programs find out all the info first and then go from there. Is there a waiting list? And so on.

Opinions???
I checked online math classes, the school did not approve them. I was trying for ADN program and there is no wait list, it is all lottery. Which isn't good for someone like me with a low GPA. I can not relocate. I tried colleges that were close enough to commute. The private college is actually 2 hours a way from where I am. Thanks for all the advice I do appreciate it, I still don't know what I should do though.

Opinions???
Lets see I applied to 3 different schools about 2 times each. One school I needed pysch the first time I applied so I took that and reapplied. The second school I needed communications, took that and applied a second time and didn't get in. The third school says my GPA is too low to compete for the program space. In order for me to bring my GPA up to the level of what they think will give me a good chance of getting in , is to retake 12 classes. So that is why I decided on the private school. For the RT program I have all prereqs done, they don't require that math to be taken. But at the same time I have all prereqs done for the RN program too, just that math class. Can I volunteer without having any medical background experience?? The only type of medical experience I have is worked in a pharmacy for like 5 yrs, but just helping like a clerk not a tech.

Opinions???
Ok here is the situation.... I really want to be a RN but am having a lot of trouble getting in program. I have tried already for 1 1/2 yrs and no success at local colleges. I decided to try private university ( I know it's alot ) but I just want to get done with school and on with my life. Well make a long story short they are not giving me credit for my math class, and can't find a math class that will finish by May that they will accept. So here is my dilemma... I can take this math class in Jan 2010, but that means this private school I wanted to go to won't have another RN program until March 2011. ( OMG that is so long). My only other option I can think of is to do a RT program. It starts in Jan and go from there. The problem is I'm not too sure of exactly what they do. I asked this school if I could job shadow someone to see what it was like before I attended the program. I was told no because all the clearance that is required in the hospital. I know that the first year is all book work and then the second year is actual clinical. So I just don't want to get all the way into the second year of the program and realize I wont be happy. I have told myself that if I become an RT for 5 yrs or so that it would be worth the price I will pay for the program, if at that point I want to go back to school and do the RN program. I dont know, I need opinions on what you would do in this situation. Thanks

Is there any Respiratory Therapy students???
Looking for some info about respiratory therapy programs. If there is anyone out there to help me that would be great. I just recently looked into this program at a private college around my area. They said if I want to start the next program I would have to get started on my application process. So its a big decision to make within a couple of weeks. My questions to anyone out there that might know...... Pros and Cons of program? Without using medical terms what does your job consist of? I read online somewhere that you sometimes have to pull the plug is that true? Is your job depressing dealing with all the people dying? How much do you get paid when you start if working at a hospital? Do your patients appreciate the work you do for them?? If anyone would prefer to contact me via email just let me know please. Thanks in advance for information:D

Any Encouragement or Advice?
I am in the same boat. Well all though I haven't heard if I have gotten in or not, but I am still doing the stressed out thing about how will we make it. How will I survive not having a day off until summer or spring break? ( I also have 2 kids). My school will be 3 full days am-pm. And the other 4 days I will be working 8 hr shifts. It's really insane, but I'm going for it. I figure it will work out for the best. Maybe I can take vacation on the weeks that I know I have a lot of tests or something. Anyways will see what happens and good luck to you!!!

Do you recommend anatomy and physiology to be taken alone?
I wouldn't say that I recommend it. Anatomy is time consuming, and physiology is (for me anyways) was a lot more studying because the information was hard to grasp( in my opinon very boring). Um I took physiology in summer semester so I could apply for nursing program that fall. Well it was a mistake it was way too overwhelming ( i was working full time and had a 2 yr old). I ended up getting a C in physiology which is like an F when trying to compete for the nursing program. I am still waiting to get in program and regret big time. I have tried 3 times already and I'm getting really disappointed. So my suggestion to you is do only what you know you can handle. I knew it would be really stupid of me to take during summer and I was right.
