Enforcement Review TX BON

Published

I am graduating nursing school in December. I submitted a declaratory form with all supporting documents of dismissal and paid to register for the NCLEX...then I received a letter a few days later from the TX BON. It stated that I had to pay $150 for my case to be reviewed by the enforcement department. I took the money order to the offices and handed it in myself. The woman there said it would take a minimum of four months to review the case. I am sick because I wanted to start my job and the place I want to work will start new grads off in Feb. If the four month time frame, (at the minimum), is true...I guess I will just have to wait. :crying2:

The charges were for Violating a Protective Order, compliments of a rocky marriage to say the least. They were misdemeanors and they were dismissed. I am just praying that the process maybe wont take so long. Has anyone ever experienced a more favorable time frame with the TX BON for enforcement review? :uhoh3:

Thanks Kann and Huckleberry for support. I am going to continue to check in until we are all celebrating!

That must be tough, being constantly surrounded by nurses, esp ones you graduated with. My graduating class had a get together recently, and I couldn't bring myself to go. I knew everyone would just be getting off of work, probably in their scrubs. I'm really worried about having negative "recommendations" on my license. I have a DWI, a little over 5 years old, and I know TX BON does not take alcohol related offenses lightly, as they shouldn't. It just seems impossible to plan for my future when it is completely out of my hands. Either way, good or not so much...I NEEEED to know. Praying for patience. :(

Hey Kann and Huckleberry,

Any news?? Fingers-crossed. Hope all is well.

I've been told to call back next week... thanks for checking in!

I was told to call back in around May 14th-18th...uhhh I am just ready to get this over with! Thanks mstx for checking in! Kann did they tell you the week of May 8-12th? I wish I knew what the deal was!

The TBON has eligibility/ discplinary committee meeting scheduled for May 7th and 8th. That may be one reason you are told to call back or they are just plain behind as usual. They gave me the same run around. I was @ two weeks outside my deadline. I was just dog tired. I spoke with my investigator due to information (recommendations of yay or nay) was not inputted in computer. It is always odd as to what information is conveyed because each person has a different response and answer for same situation.

I know I completely agree, there is always some way they give you different information and make this all very confusing! So do you have work prospects MSTX? Have you received your number or letter yet?

Curious as to why it is taking you guys so long. I moved to texas in 2007 and had to pay the 150 as well and was cleared within a month although maybe it didnt take as long because I was endorsing in from New Mexico. I had a misdomeanor driving while suspended and was scared to death i wouldnt get approved. I wish you girls luck. Sorry to hear it is taking forever!

Huckleberry,

I have not recieved a letter yet but I have not made it to four to six weeks. I know recommendations has been made, So i will be hoping it arrive soon. I have had a few calls but you know you have to have the TBON number :)

RNandlovingit,

It is a case by case bases and the intial reviewer has certain infractions that he can okay and others he can not. TBON are super behind and I am not sure the difference from several years ago. I wish I was approve in a couple of months or less but unfortantly I have a felony and a misdemeanor arrest (both expunge now). Thanks for letting us know of your experience.

You never know how long it will take and the BON will tell you NOTHING. My situation was similar to yours and I got approved in 2 months. I had classmates who waited a year.

I called today and I was told to call back next week :crying2: I am signed up to take a review course that is costing over 300...I just worry that it will be a waste if for some reason I am not able to take my NCLEX for awhile more. On the other hand if I am approved I would need this class for the soon future...I am still trying to just stay in today, and for right now I guess I should prepare and keep my knowledge somewhat up to date....and yeah keep my hopes alive

Huckleberry- what review course are you signed up for? Hurst Review?
