Endorsing RN license to NY?

U.S.A. New York

Published

Hi! Just wondering if anyone know how one can endorse/transfer RN license to NY? I looked on the NY BON website but I don't seem to find a answer. I'm a RN from Massachusetts, worked for over an year there, applied to NYU's grad school recently and the admissions person brought up this question. I am an American citizen but foreign graduate, if this will make a difference. Thanks!

Go to the OP NYSED website. Try to check under application form, If I'm not mistaken, I might have seen a form for license endorsement.

what's the OP NYSED website, pretty please? I'm planning to move to NYC from Chi-town and any advise from NYC nurses would be appreciated.

The OP NYSED website is the Office of the Professions, New York State Education Department. The URL you're looking for is here: http://www.op.nysed.gov/nurseforms.htm

Scoot around the site until you find what applies to you :)

I'm not in NYC, so can't help you there, though.

thanks for the help!

I am in the same situation as you. since you got education in another country, I think you need to go through CVS, and it takes a long time.

Hi all,

Hope I can help - I am a Canadian RN who recently moved to NYC. I already have a MN RN license, and looked into getting my NY state RN license through endorsement. As a foreign educated RN (this will apply to any nursing school other than NY state) - you will require the CVS through CGFNS as part of your application. I am still waiting for my CVS - it takes a really long time - I have been waiting almost 6 months now - and still don't have it! So..just to let you know - be prepared for a long wait for it. I also looked into a temporary NY RN license in the mean time - but this still requires the CVS from CGFNS - there is no getting around it.

Hope this helps!

Brent.
