You have to consider the nature of Computerized Adaptive Testing. It is possible to pass with 85 questions, 205 questions, or anywhere in between. The CAT is attempting to determine your overall knowledge within an acceptable degree of statstical certainty. Each time you answer a question, right or wrong, the computer recalculates your current estimated knowledge level. As you answer questions, that level estimate bounces all over the place. The more questions you answer, the closer the computer can narrow in on (greater statistical significance) your actual knowledge level. When it's asked enough questions to know that level with an acceptable degree of certainty, it shuts off. It's not even just right or wrong, each question is assigned a value based on difficulty, so answering a really esoteric question right is different than answering a simple question right.
Don't read anything into how many questions you got. You'll have your answer in a few days. Good luck!

People have passed in the 150 range. Just wait for your results patiently to conclusively know whether you've passed. Good luck.
EDIT: Congratulations!!!!!!
Hi Commuter, well my friend and I just took NCLEX today after four months of studying hard and we both shut off around 85 and feel like we failed. We seriously felt like we guessed at 90% of the test. There were so many drugs on there we had not studied and did not know and we guessed. Do you think there is a chance we passed???? I know that is a stupid question. We are so upset and stressed we don't know what to do. Did you feel like you had to guess alot? We are in California so not sure how long it will take to get results. Help!!!!!!!!!!
