Emory University BSN/BSN 2nd Degree, Fall 2012 Applicants

Published

Hi Everyone!

I am getting ready to apply to Emory's Fall 2012 BSN for 2nd Degree program and thought it may be helpful to start up a little forum/therapy group-ha.

If you are:

currently applying/a former applicant/a current Emory BSN student/a current BSN/MSN student, I'd love to hear from you!

Has everyone finished their pre-recs? Does anyone else have a non competitive undergrad (like me) G.P.A.? Does anyone know who is considered a competitive applicant? Where is everyone else applying?

I look forward to speaking with everyone...and hopefully entering the Fall '12 class together!

@Karczyn2: When do they start contacting people regarding interviews if we've applied for any of the scholarships? How many people actually receive those scholarships?

@crjohnson10210,

I think you are golden. You have A&P I done with a great grade and that tells enough. You are good without Chem II. That was the one I was finishing up when I applied. The fact that you have other Psych classes probably helps. Not too sure where that class plays into their decision making, but I know it was a class many students took the summer prior to starting the program.

And it is very cool to see where people have come and where they plan to go. It most certainly makes for a diverse class with intersitng stories and perspectives.

My goodness danceluver. Why must you ask me all the difficult questions? You stump me every time :).

Which scholarships are you referring too? I know for the Tull scholarship and Glasgow Endowment Fund Scholarship there were no interviews. Not sure if you are referring to those or not. I would imagine they wouldn't start contacting you until at least mid-February when they start sending acceptance letters out. Did they give you any information?

Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

I know the ABSN folks got their letters earlier that Feb 1st. Anybody know if the Segue group might know something before the 15th? I know it says letters will go out on the 15th, but the more I read on these forums, some people seem to have additional information to share. The wait is KILLING me. I am realistic that I may not be accepted. I ( as I am sure most of us) am a planner and not knowing what I will be doing come this fall, is very uncomfortable.

It's the not knowing.... the maybe "yes".... maybe "no".

@karczyn2: LOL so sorry!! You just seem so knowledgable i thought i'd throw it out there. But no problem :) You've been a great help already!!

@karczyn2, I had another question. Are you required to do service learning? I think that's Emory's version of community service. Because I know some nursing schools require that.

@Contenta

Accelerated BSN people have gotten their letters already? I haven't...and it doesn't say anything online! :confused:

I was reading on the thread for the summer ABNS and I read several people post that they were accepted. I will go back to that thread and reread to be sure I wasn't mistaken. Did you apply for the summer or fall? I hope I haven’t given you a heart attack.

Haha, no...I guess they were probably summer. I'm fall :o)

I was wondering if any of the current students could tell me if the parking fee is annual or semester-based? I heard that it's around $600, but I'm wondering if that is for the whole year or just a semester.

Hey karamarie91,

Yes you are required to do Service Learning. Only in the first semester, though. I did my rotation at the Gateway Center and it was great!

Parking is for the year. They also have other options such as a weeks parking or 10 parking passes. And yup it is expensive. I would get a carpool pass and split it with someone. Or bike/run like me :)
