  1. Best of luck fmgirl!! You will be an awesome nurse wherever you go!! UCH will always be around so don't count it out.
  2. DON'T always consolidate right away! Check to see if you qualify for the HRSA nurse loan repayment program first. Once you consolidate I believe you don't qualify anymore.
  3. I logged into my account. Looks like mine was updated on the 6th, but there is no other real helpful information. Now I am definitely not going to sleep all weekend.
  4. I interviewed for the Medical and Cardiac ICUs. There is a way to check the status of your application? lol How do you do that if you don't mind sharing :-D?
  5. Does anyone who is applying to the ICUs know by chance whether or not they will make decisions a day early or on a specific date? I have an offer from another hospital and I HAVE to let them know by Monday. It's literally stressing me beyond belief. Any insight would help. Gracias :-)
  6. Interview went great!! I will hear back on the 10th of June. A little late, but I guess we are all in the same boat. Not sure who is on this thread so to keep it professional feel free to send me a personal message if you'd like and I can give you more details. Or I can give you my email.
  7. For ICU they told me they are hiring 7 new grads. I just had my interview yesterday.
  8. Hi everyone, I am new to this thread. Anyone have an interview for ICU positions? I have no idea what to expect in terms of what questions they are going to ask. Especially because the application was so lengthy. Any insight would be much appreciated.
  9. Halffull, True. It is a very expensive school. And almost all schooling these days is way overpriced. A problem in this country in and of itself. However, it is not the nursing school who sets the tuition, but the University as a whole. The blame should not be pointed at the SON in any way. The SON also is very aware of this and is something they take into consideration with every decision of their program. To those reading this, be aware that there are plenty of funding sources to help you through the two years in addition to opportunities such as HRSA post-graduation. It may be tougher for some, but is very doable. This is coming from a current student. Emory SON truly does follow their value of social responsibility and it is one of the few schools who does. It is evident in their work throughout the state of Georgia and other countries of this world. Just adding to the other side of the story. However, in the end it is each individuals choice.
  10. Congrats to all who got in!!!! You all worked very hard I am sure and you deserve it. See you all next Fall little juniors Muhaha:bugeyes: Or maybe in April for those attending the day for accepted students. @karamarie91 Replying to your earlier question. I do live close to campus. 2.5 miles away. I found my place off the off campus housing website. It was very helpful. And Service Learning Projects can take place on the weekend I believe. A majority are during the week, however.
  11. Parking is for the year. They also have other options such as a weeks parking or 10 parking passes. And yup it is expensive. I would get a carpool pass and split it with someone. Or bike/run like me :)
  12. Hey karamarie91, Yes you are required to do Service Learning. Only in the first semester, though. I did my rotation at the Gateway Center and it was great!
  13. My goodness danceluver. Why must you ask me all the difficult questions? You stump me every time :). Which scholarships are you referring too? I know for the Tull scholarship and Glasgow Endowment Fund Scholarship there were no interviews. Not sure if you are referring to those or not. I would imagine they wouldn't start contacting you until at least mid-February when they start sending acceptance letters out. Did they give you any information? Sorry I couldn't be of more help.
  14. @crjohnson10210, I think you are golden. You have A&P I done with a great grade and that tells enough. You are good without Chem II. That was the one I was finishing up when I applied. The fact that you have other Psych classes probably helps. Not too sure where that class plays into their decision making, but I know it was a class many students took the summer prior to starting the program. And it is very cool to see where people have come and where they plan to go. It most certainly makes for a diverse class with intersitng stories and perspectives.
  15. I think 3 is fine. Which classes are they if you don't mind me asking? Not having medical related experience doesn't hurt your chances. In fact, there aren't more than 15 of us in 112 who have experience as a tech, phlebotomist, etc. In fact, it is beneficial because you have an unrelated background. Especially teaching because that is such a coveted skill to have in nursing. I'm sure you will rock peds :). Emory really prides itself on diversity and bringing different perspectives to the program and field. We have a few teachers in our program actually. We also have web developers, returning peace corps members, public health majors, engineers, moms and dads, history majors, and the list goes on. It certainly helps to have at least a volunteer or shadowing experience because it shows that you know a little about what you are getting yourself into, but don't think that you aren't as competitive as any other applicant. We are all unique.
