I want to start off by saying I hope everyone is staying safe! I’m currently in my last term of nursing school, I just applied to the Emory Nurse Residency Program fall 2020. I’m stressed about the process in general but with everything CoVID related I’m afraid that I won’t be considered a strong applicant, my clinical for the last two terms has been cancelled and We’ve been forced to do everything online. Anyone else feel this way? Has anyone applied to any residency programs?
@Charliebear95 did they tell you how long the commitment was with Piedmont? I feel like I was told 1 year but I can’t find it anywhere
@nursecaroline @e.allen.s I haven’t received mine either and was wondering the same thing! She told me mid July I think.

Piedmont has a one-year verbal commitment.

It’s a one year verbal commitment but that’s it they don’t really make you commit
@Charliebear95OK, bc it wasn’t in the offer letter I signed. Also did they tell you if you were going to be starting off on nights as a new grad? They asked my preference but they didn’t say if it was mandatory I had to work nights. Piedmont said they start new nurses on nights

I accepted an offer in L&D last week. I specifically asked for the night shift and got my second interview (third, if counting the screening with the recruiter) with the night staff. Also, when the recruiter called to make the offer, she only talked about the night differential. So I cannot confirm/guarantee anything based on my specific situation.

It actually depends on what the availability is! During your orientation you will start off on days, towards the end you’ll have to do nights and then once orientation is over if there is Availability on day shift you can switch over if you would like!
