Emory New Nurse Grad Residency Program March 2016

Published

Hi! I have looked around, but I could not find any posts about the March 2016 Residency Program at Emory University in Atlanta, GA so...I thought I would make one :-)

Has anyone else applied or does anyone have any info about the overall process? Thanks in advance!

Happiness and excitement consumes me when I share I have an interview for the ICU! I hope all the best for you all- this is really a dream come true.

What did you do to gain experience in the ICU? My nursing school doesn't have an ICU clinical :( and I really want to work in the ICU, but I'm afraid that I wouldn't get any positions without it. Any advice? Did you do any job shadowing, volunteering, etc?

I called HR about a year ago and asked what they look for in new grads. When they mentioned clinical experience, I emailed my Dean and told her about how awesome it would be to start in this nurse residency program and she helped with placing me in the ICU. I was incredibly blessed to intern this summer in the ICU (there's so many out there unrelated to local nursing schools) and I have several critical care RNs as references. But the talent team seems to have specific requirements for what they're looking for. I would ask during your interview! Show them you're interested in staying with EMORY Healthcare and, especially if your interview is in Med-Surg, how you can advance your skills through certifications (i.e. ACLS) for a spot in the ICU as you gain experience.

I'm not sure I just moved to Georgia so I'm not sure of the specialities. But I did not apply for a trauma position ... That stuff is too much for me lol

So.....I WILL BE INTERVIEWING FOR ICU AT MIDTOWN!!! I don't really think it has hit me yet, but I'm just sooo excited and anxious for us all!

That's great! Congrats! lol.. Did you have any prior ICU experience?

Thanks! Yes- I'm doing 120 hours in ICU step down now for my last trimester and my I've had some experience in ICU with clinicals throughout nursing school.

I still have not heard anything after sending in my questionnaire -- am I the only one that's still lost? I just know about the Oct. 30th date

Did anyone else put down women's health as their preference??

Does anyone know who I can contact for more info -- every time i have called to HR it has gone to voicemail and no one returns my call (I've left 2 voicemails)

I also haven't heard anything since the questionnaire! I put women's health first, and ED. Have only ICU people heard so far? Fingers crossed and good luck everyone!

I applied for both the ICU and regular residency and from what I see on my email looks like im interviewing for the regular one. I indicated medsurg for first choice and critical care second. So no not just for the ICU have they been sending out emails. Keep checking your email im sure they are interviewing alot of people. Best wishes!!!

Hi I am joining late, but I have been following your chat. I too applied and have a interview for Emory Hospital on 30 Oct at 8:30 AM. The question I have is how do you know what you are interviewing for. I put the ER as my first choice and women services as my second choice. When I received my confirmation email it did not state what position I would be interviewing for. Did anyone else have this problem? I feel very confused at this point not really knowing what position I am interviewing for. I have left messages and emails with HR with no respond back.
