EMORY ABSN+MSN 2017

Published

So I decided to start a thread for the Fall 2017. Any current/prospective student on here? What GPA did you have when you applied and how competitive is the selection process? If you don't mind sharing your work experience and GRE score, that will be awesome. For those who are enrolled, do you mind sharing your experience?

The University of Texas Health Science Center's- Nursing School (In the Texas medical center) is so cheap that ABSN+ regular MSN would total to ~35k for the entire program. They're $244/credit hour and Emory is like $1,750/credit hour oh wait....is it $1,900/credit hour? If I don't hear from UMass Worcester, i'll be going to UTHSC.

I would love to attend Emory but cannot afford taking out private loans. Other schools, such as MGH, also offers the BSN+MSN track and allows you to take out all federal loans (Grad PLUS), so it stinks that Emory cannot provide the same, whether it is the school's policy or not. It's a shame because it looks like a fantastic program.

Good luck to everyone and hope you get to where you want to!

I've been reading through these posts for a while but just now decided to actually get a username and add to the discussion!

I was accepted as well and went to the admitted students day since I already live in the Atlanta area. I heard a lot of the same things as everyone else regarding it being an investment and so on. I'm still up in the air about the program at this point. Even with a scholarship it's very expensive but there are a lot of pros for me in terms of living close by and not needing to relocate. I wish we could hear from someone who has completed the program at Emory and knows fully what life looks like dealing with those loan payments on a NP salary.

congratulations on the scholarship, that's awesome. was it the merit? how much did you end up getting and is it for both the absn and msn program?

It's a few thousand per semester for both portions of the program. I believe it's merit based but I can't remember what the email said. So definitely not much in comparison to the cost.

So I recently applied to and got accepted to another ABSN+MSN program for August start. 12months for the BSN, and another 12months for MSN NP specialty. There is an option of taking maximum of 2yrs off after the BSN portion before starting the NP specialty if one chooses to. Total program cost is about 75k. So, it is a goodbye to Emory. I hope someone on waitlist gets my spot. If anyone is interested, PM me. Application deadline is May 15.

Hey, thanks for the update, and congratulations! 75K for the whole program is a great deal! You're not willing to divulge what program this is? :)

I know, it'd be good to hear from those people!
