Emailing Nurse Recruiters

Published

Hello! I am currently in the last semester of my BSN program and planning to graduate in December 2019. I applied for a position a couple of weeks ago at the hospital where I would love to work on the exact day the application was posted online. The job posting has since been removed from the hospital website. However, on the job portal page where I am able to track the status of my application, the job status still shows "active, still taking applications" and the submission status shows "under consideration."

My question is...is it frowned upon to send an email to the nurse recruiter and further inquire about the job? The job posting was only online for a few days before it was removed. Even though the job portal still says the job status is active, I am unsure about if this is accurate or not since the posting is no longer available.

Thanks in advance! ?

Have you considered calling HR and seeing about the status of the job? That may be a good idea. Remember you are competing with people who may also have their RN license. You can use that opportunity to ask what they are looking for potential applicants.

How long ago did you apply?

At my hospital, we took applications for the new grad residency slots back in August. We took the ads down after two weeks. Some of those are only just now starting to get call backs.

If it has been more than a week there is nothing wrong with following up.
