Elementary vs. Middle School Nursing

My elementary is adding pre K for 3 year olds.  I am not sure I have the temperament for that many wet clothes.  The added vaccines and screenings also might put me on tilt.  I am thinking about an opening in middle school.  Please stop me now if this is a bad idea!

I REALLY enjoy subbing in the middle school. They are self-aware and can TELL me what’s wrong. I get annoyed (I’m sorry!) when somebody brings me a kindergartener who just stares at me and can’t formulate a sentence. The middle schoolers often can also figure out their own solutions: “Do you think you need to go home?” “No, I think I can go back to class now.”  Great!

There are some tricks to get the littles to open up. (Of course they don't work for every student.)

But  middle schoolers who have left class to see you and then don't want to go home??

You. Are. LUCKY!!

Thank you all so much for your perspectives!  I think at the core of my being I am an elementary nurse.  I am just going to have to set some different boundaries with the potty accidents!  This is my 7th year and every year has been different.  Who knows what the next one will bring!
