Hi. Is anyone here attending nursing school at El Paso Community College? I will be starting my first semester in January and am very excited! I've already purchased many of the text books and wanted to know if anyone else has? Any concerns or comments about attending the program? I'd love to hear from you!

Happy New Year!:yeah:

Congrats mari_j, how exciting!!!! You have to do that with your counselor once you're accepted? Thanks for that info, I will know what to do once I get in : ) see you at the orientations.

Hi jandra19. Thanks for your wishes. Good luck on the next ranking : ) your friend got in this ranking ? The counselor told me I was #94, I still have hope I get in : ) good luck to you too : )

my friend got in on october 2010. Im sure u will get in i just hoope i do to

Thanks jandra19. Let's have hope and if we don't get in this semester I'm sure we will for the next one : ).

ayyy if i dont get in this semester i dont think ill get in on october because I have a "C" in pharmacology. I'm so depressed cause I'm gonna have to wait for another year.:crying2:

Hi jandra19. Don't feel depressed, I know it stressful having to wait and "compete" for a spot. But remember that things happen for a reason, maybe this semester is not the best time for us, we don't know what God has in plan for us. I'm sure once we get in things will be great : ) hope you feel better and I wish you the best of luck ; )

HI Mother of 2 and jandra 19, don't be sad you still have the opportunity to be in the program. And like Mother of 2 said things happen for a reason. I will be praying for both of you , remember the time goes really fast so if you don't make it this fall, wait until october, focus and rank again. DONT't give up. I'll see you in July (orientations)

Hi meli123. Thanks for your kind words. You're right we shouldn't give up, as long as God gives us health we have hope !!!! See you in orientations, I hope we can meet ; ). Congrats once again !!!!

Hi everyone. Congrats to those in the EPCC RN program. We just moved here from Fort Rucker, AL along with a couple 1000 other aviators. Im finally here for a few years so i can actually finish a nursing program. Im aiming for A&P 2 and a math in August. Anyone knows of a good teacher, please email me at [email protected].

From my understanding, you cant see the names on this site. Also, There is a test that has 3 parts to take to get accepted? From what i gather, the total can be 300 points on each test so my question is, What do these tests involve subject wise? I know there obviously will be a math portion. Can you take pharmacology before entering in the program and if so, does anyone recommend a teacher for that? Thanks everyone.

This site is inspiring. Alot of people on here who have tried and made it, who have tried and not...but who still arent giving up. Way to go! :yeah:

Hello aviatorwife : ) welcome to El Paso !!! I wish you a happy stay here in Sun City. I will email you the name of the teachers I took A&p and Pharmacology with

And yes there are 3 test you need to take in order to rank into the Nursing Program, they are College Math, Reading and writing. I suggest you get tutoring for any of the subjects you need the most help with and I also suggest to take them with time. Based on my experience I left them for the last minute and did not do as good which affected my ranking : ( even when I had all A's in ranking courses( A&p 1, 2 and Microorganism and Disease).

Since you will be starting in August you can't no longer take pharmacology before Nursing School, it is now a Ranking Course so try to get an "A" to have a better chance in getting accepted.

I hope the info helps and if you have any other questions I will be happy to help in what I can, good luck and once again...WELCOME TO EL PASO : D

Hi AviatorWife!

The 3 part test you have to take is the Accuplacer. The school has GREAT tutoring services that I highly reccomend. You take practice tests for each section and then you have tutoring based on what you didn't get correct on your practice tests. It can be time consuming based on your level, but trust me, its more than worth it.

You have to take Pharmacology before entering the program now because it is a ranking course.

I got my letter last week that I was accepted to the Nursing program at EPCC :) I'm VERY excited to start but am kind of nervous.

For those of you who are already in the program, how much did you spend on books, and everything?! I'm just trying to get an idea of what i'm going to have to do because I don't ever qualify for FA.
