Hi. Is anyone here attending nursing school at El Paso Community College? I will be starting my first semester in January and am very excited! I've already purchased many of the text books and wanted to know if anyone else has? Any concerns or comments about attending the program? I'd love to hear from you!

Happy New Year!:yeah:

Hi. I toke pharmacology with ****** during the summer last year. The first 2 exams were closed book and yes they were hard. After that the rest of the exams were take home exams whack helped everyone, I am not sure if this is how is currently done still. When ranking for RN the maximum ranking points is 1200 so if you if you get A's in all your ranking classes that's I think 900 points then you add your accuplacer test scores and that's how my counselor came up with my points. Remember that ranking coursed are 70% of your ranking and accuplacer exams are 10% each. I hope I didn't confuse you. Good luck.

patito i was just curious Im ranking in june 2011 im so scared of not getting in. I wanted to ask you more or less how much money did you spend on books, uniform, etc.? the reason im asking is because I have to make a huge decision since my financial aid is about to finish. I already took pharm but i got a "C" and on October this will be a ranking course. I wanted to retake it on the summer but I applied for Project Arriba and there asking me to take summer class. I cant take both classes because the time overlaps. What would you recommend me? :)

Hello everyone,

I would like to get into the nursing program at EPCC, thus I need to take my 4 science classes. Can anyone give me some info. as to what instructors I should look for? If all goes well I will be ranking in June 2012.

thank you for your advice everything you said is absolutely true! Although i barely read it jeje For some odd reason i don't get notifications of new posts anymore, i forget to check this not that i had any time to do so while in 1st semester :|

Like someone else mentioned for those of you not in the prog yet be ready for a bumpy ride, (i still have 3 semesters to go!) be ready for TONS i mean TONS of studying and reading, be ready to devote all your time to school, your days will most likely be spent in class, studying non stop every day, i hardly ever came out of my office at home or labs at school...At times you may not even have enough time to eat/sleep, there will most likely be times you feel you want to give up but hang in there! Remember everyone is on the same boat and most likely feels the same! Keep in mind at all times the end result will be totally worth all the blood sweat and tears!

Super congrats on graduating this past May! :) I still have a long ways to go (3 semesters) but im glad i made it through 1st sem thus far and am counting the days til i get to 4th, graduation, and nclex!

Check with financial aid office....if you have never done a formal "change of major" through the financial aid office you can do so and most likely get your school covered. However do not do this until counselors and financial aid has told you to submit a change of major form...

I recommend to anyone who for one reason or another did not get As in ranking courses to try and do so before ranking if possible to improve your chances of getting accepted.

Congrats BellaBella on your first semester. I'm waiting on a response hopefully by next week since ranking is tomorrow, I'm super nervous but I can't wait to start Nursing School. I worked so hard in my ranking classes and thank God I got all A's but my accuplacer scores were not good ; / I just passed them. That worries me a lot but I still have hope I get an acceptance letter ; ) good lock in your second semester ; )

Mother of 2, thank you so much!

WOW your ranking is tomorrow!!! I will keep my fingers crossed for you! I hope you do receive that letter! My guess is you will be fine :) I remember i was going to the counselors almost every day to check my status and possibilities of being accepted those last weeks especially those last days are nerve racking!

I hope all goes your way :)

Thank you BellaBella : ) and yes I have been going to my counselor almost everyday lol. He told me the possibilities were good but there's a lot of people ranking. Thanks for your wishes. I really hope things work out specially since next ranking will be harder ; / I will keep you posted on how things went!!!! Take care and good luck with school.

Thanks

I got a scor of 1007 so far, but Im still waiting for their decision, but I might make it to the LVN aternate. Know I dont knot if to retry for the RN and take micro again to replace that C or just go for the LVN:uhoh3:

Hi! I was reading your posts from last year. May I ask how you got a score of 1007 from 997? I think I'm missing a ranking factor in my calculations. Thanks!

epochoa

...Hello Everyone.. I am very anxious and nervous waiting to see if I receive a letter of acceptance in to EPCC Nursing, ranking was June 2, does anyone knows more less when the letters should arrive? I have a total of 1085 points, do you guys think I have a possibility? Thanks : )

Hi Mother of 2 I' m also waiting for the acceptance letter .I have 1137 points. I'm very nervous because I got C in pharmacology so if I don't get accepted this June, I have to take that class again to get an A. Good Luck.

Hi Meli123, congrats I'm sure you will get in : ) what affected me was my accuplacer scores but I'm just going to wait and pray lol. It's getting harder each time ; /. Please let me know if you receive the letter. Thanks ; )
