Oh man!!! I forgot about that Pharm packet!!!!! I have just been using my drug book!!!!!!!!!! Wow! Thanks for reminding me! LOL Maybe studying will be a little easier! hahahaha too funny

Yeah... it's like word for word what you said!!! Plus, it has page numbers to refer you back to Kee!!! I'm not reading Kee because that packet has everything you need (a repeater told me that)..... and we also had a pharm review and they had some handouts.

That would be awesome Brianna! I hope you go for it because that's a great opportunity!!!!!!! Congratulations!!!!!

Thanks!!! Do you think that it's too specialized? My fear is that I may get bored.... I dunno. She said that they can also teach you how to scrub so you can also be a first assist or continue on to be a CRNA! The hours are also like a regular job... Mon-Fri 6:30am-3pm... I worked with an agency nurse that has a contract there, and she told me she makes $38/hr!!!!!!

I don't know if you'd get bored because there might be all different types of surgeries coming in. Wow- that's some good cash! :D I bet the hours would be good because most planned surgeries are during the week so that would be a big benefit. Maybe you could just try it out?? Are you seriously thinking about it? And that would also be great experience if you're thinking of the CRNA route.

HAHAHAHA!!! I could've had written that packet!!! It's good to know that it really is that helpful. I haven't looked in Kee yet. I've just been using my drug book for everything. That's cool that you guys got a pharm review. We got some brief thing from our instructor but I don't think it was much of a pharm review.... I just want to pass the first time so I can start studying resp.

Honestly... I'm really considering it! I like the hours and no weekends!! I work weekends now, and I have no life because most people I know are not healthcare workers, so they're off on the weekends. I think it would be a great place to be because I will see alot, and it's not too specialized to where I couldn't change departments if I don't like it. I always thought about going to CRNA school too....

My clinical instructor did our pharm review and it was pretty helpful, but not as detailed as the one we got last semester. I have to pass on the first time because I'm going on a cruise for spring break and I don't wanna bring my pharm stuff with me!!! :uhoh21:

I'm terrified of respiratory!!!! :uhoh3:

OMG... I had my OR rotation on Weds and I had a great time!!!!! The unit manager offered me a job out there starting this summer and then they have an internship that starts in January.....:D

Go for it!!! :balloons:

I think if you want to be a CRNA you need ICU experience, too. But the OR is a great place! You already know that you like psych, too so if you change your mind later you can go back to psych.

But I guess you didn't know if he was TB yet so he wouldn't have been on any of those meds but you would have been ready to explain them to him ;)

He was taking 20 meds a day. Immunosuppressants, antimicrobes, mineral supplements, cardio drugs, and yes, 3 different TB drugs, too. I noticed that many pt with chronic diseases know a lot about their drugs. I mean, they actually talk about their meds the way we learn them. He wasn't in ICU, (yet).

Katie

Specializes in OR Internship starting in Jan!!.

Wow, I'm so jealous. Ya'll get to have all the fun ;)

Do keep us updated on the OR job -- I'm very interested in the OR first assist path and would love to hear more first hand details about working in an OR :D

Huge majorly dumb question that I've totally forgotten- when do you offer a snack to a pt after they receive Regular insulin? Is it 2 hours? bc the peak is 2-4 hours? I can't believe I have forgotten that vital piece of information..I thought I had that stuff down pat from last semester...guess not :uhoh21:

Yes, I think so.

I hope we won't have many questions on antibiotics. I am having a hard time remembering the different side effects and drug interactions. :selfbonk:
