El Centro Spring Applying to 2011

U.S.A. Texas

I applied to El Centro for the Spring 2011 class. Did anyone else?

I was the last number chosen. I didn't get to choose, so the VA was chosen for me, but that was my second choice behind Parkland.

Do any of you that got into the program for Spring mind posting your points? I was denied and I am trying again next month. Just wondering what the cut off was for the last application period. Congrats to all of you that made it:clown:

I had 14 and did not get in. How many did you have.

I had 14 also. I'm planning on retaking the HESI exam to try and increase my points. Hopefully I will be able to apply with a 16 this time....I just hope that's high enough.

17 points for me.

So I think most of yall had orientation this week. How was it and did you get to pick clinical/lecture sites or was it just given to you.

Sorry, just saw this...Orientation was somewhat informative. Mainly dealt w/textbooks, clinicals, paperwork stuff. At the NLC orientation, someone started writing after Ms ****** said not to, so she didn't finish giving us all the clinical info.

We sat in the room & were called up alphabetically. You signed in (I think) & picked a random numbered poker chip out of a jar. Then they put your number attached to your name in the computer & scramble the order. At the end of orientation she called out the scrambled random numbers. So even number 50 could have been the first one picked. Basically, no way to cheat or try to manipulate your clinical site. :-) There were 10 slots per clinical site/day so you listed your 1st - 6th choices & took whichever you could. Make sense?

I think I had 15, but I can't exactly remember. But, I must have been ok on the list, because NLC was my first choice for campus & I got it. Or maybe just ended up there?? The max points I could earn was 18 since I don't have a healthcare job & I know I didn't have all 18. Good Luck!!!

Have you heard what time we are supposed to be at orientation on the 19th? I haven't seen anything yet.

I haven't either. I emailed ***** to ask her if I overlooked something because I hadn't seen any more info. This was her response:

No, I didn't overlook anything. You were given the flier regarding the three day orientation and there was suppose to have been an announcement placed on eCampus for you all. As you were told during the admissions orientation the event will be held in the C building auditorium at the main El Centro campus and I believe it starts at 9 but registration will began at 830.

When I pulled my flyer from Dec orientation out, it doesn't show any times & at the bottom it says more details will come in a mailing. I think I will just show up Wednesday at 8 & hang out til it starts. I think the orientation Friday is at your specific campus though...

Hi,

I think we should be there at 8 am as there is no specific time mentioned on the flier given to us on 20th dec in our orientation....so i am going to be there at 8 am ....

bye !! see u all there on 19th , wednesday :)

Congrats to all that made it into the program! Im going to be applying for the fall 11' and was wondering what study guides did you all use to study for the HESI entrance exam ? I have the evolve review book from the site that i've been studying with but are they any other tips that would be helpful for me ?

Dr. ******* did put times for Thursday on ecampus but that's it. Guess I will join you all at 8:30 on Wednesday.

My notes show an 8 am start time to sign in for the day.
