Hello,
Who here has applied or will apply to El Centro's ADN program for spring 2012 and if so, what are your points? I am about to turn in my application and I have 17 points.
Hello Everyone,
Congratulations to everyone who got in...and to those who didn't there is always next time. I am in northlake. I have actually gotten in for spring 2011 but failed my first semester skills. Back then I was not taking it seriously( I guess), and had never even thought that I would be dropped out for failing skills. Anyways I hope this time around I will make it. I agree with ETCO2 100% about how the administration is. The teachers are not well prepared. I think the teachers do not know anything better than the stdents......Basically it is like teaching yourself. I thought it was only me who thought this way, but after reading ETCO2's post, I think El Centro is definitely not a best school.
Many thanks to ETCO2 for the hepful suggestions.
Thank you for your insight willbeanurse1day. With this additional information I have added another avenue to my path to success list: top rated You Tube Lectures on Nursing Fundamentals and such. The College of Southern Maryland and other great programs have posted countless lectures on countless nursing subjects.
Is there anything specifically that we should avoid?
Is there a positive that we should choose or look forward to?
Great nurses that I've had an opportunity to speak with have told me they lived, slept, drank, etc, nursing related subjects until after NCLEX -and even the first year or two of work. That's my game plan too. You can only get out of it what you put into it right
to those that felt they just barely made it, could you tell us (me) your total points for application? hesi scores? i am in the process of applying for Fall 2012 (application deadline is jan-feb) and have NOT taken my HESI yet. after reading many of the previous threads, i'm going to dive into HESI studying immediately!
so glad i found this thread. you all are so helpful :)
The lowest score for this cohort was 14, but it all depends on the applicants. Do take that Hesi ASAP. I recommend that you write down as much of the AnP and other sections after the test for review. In addition, take your test as close together as possible to maintain memory freshness. I scheduled at el Centro and then twice at North Lake. Some of the questions will repeat. Take as many to max out your score. Google "Hesi vocabulary" to get the list of potential vocabulary words. This section averages in the 70s. Math requires the most time so don't be frustrated. All the other sections flow quicker.
Of course all of this is nothing if you don't turn in a complete package. I went over mine 3 times before submitting it. Good Luck

Hello delgadokleo,
Usually a lot of people apply to more than one program to increase their chances. For instance, many apply to both El Centro and Brookhaven. Brookhaven's letters haven't been sent yet. Most likely some will be accepted to more than one program which may hopefully open a slot for you. Last semester someone mentioned being called the week before classes began. It's all good. Best of luck.
