Wow, what a great piece of news just prior to the Thanksgiving! I surely have much to be thankful for.
I got the admission letter via e-mail today, and, I must say, I am both thrilled and cautious. I hope that the program suits me well and that I can do it justice in reciprocity. I have heard that some people, as in any program, do fail and get dropped. My responsibility from hereon is to do my utmost best in the program, and, hopefully, my performance will carry me through the entire program.
If you have received the conditional admission letter, please, feel free to post here.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your families!

I got the acceptance email yesterday as well! What a relief! I am excited to get started! Congratulations to everyone who has been accepted, I can't wait to meet everyone at orientation.
Congrats, socalpeach!
I knew that once we were invited to TEAS, we'd hear good news. I hope that more of the admitted students post here. I think that this forum is invaluable in sharing information, experiential anecdotes, and NCLEX studies.
See you all at orientation!

Hi, isabelshelburne!
The mandatory orientation date is January 6, 2011.
I hope that you hear something from them soon, and hopefully, an admission news!
Best of luck.

hello guys! im trying to apply to ECC for following fall semester, if you dont mind, can you please tell me what your grades were based on that grading criteria approximately? so i know where i am and the chances of acceptance
thank you in advance :)
Hi, cantsleep.
First of all, I hope that you attended their information session and that you have the admission criteria sheet. I have not calculated my total points because some of the points depend on the administration's discretion (giving points for economic hardship, second language proficiency, etc.).
1. BA in Sociology
2. No healthcare experience, be it paid or volunteer
3. 3.30 Cum. Undergrad GPA
4. 3.75 Nursing Science GPA
5. 87.6 on TEAS IV
Good luck, and I hope that you get into the program of your choice. :)

hello anyone who is willing to read this message!:)
I am new to allnurses.com, but i came to this site asking for help from anyone who is willing to answer my questions.
I was wondering if anyone on this site graduated from the el camino nursing program and is able to give me any advice for 3rd semester. I know i shouldnt be stressing about 3rd semester yet because the 1st half of the 2nd semester is just ending ( now going into psych rotation)but i have heard from so many people that 3rd semester (both parts of the semester) are REALLY difficult. many people I know now arent passing the first half in both med/surg and ob/peds. Any advice for me that doesnt want to fail 3rd semester. I already had my 1st fail last semester (2nd semester) in med surg and CANNOT fail anymore times....HELP PLEASE

Hey, I just graduated. All I have to say is good luck, and tell your family and friends you won't be seeing them for 16 weeks. Start reading ASAP. For Med/Surg, start reading the Neuro chapters, and for Peds/OB start reading the first 9 or so chaps about normal childhood development. Find a good group of people to study with, we used to do 8-12 hour days on Sat/Sun just quizzing each other on material and then going through every question related to the material from an NCLEX book. Ask for help from instructors if you need it, they really do want you to pass.
Practice your skills, and make sure you KNOW the mechanism of action for any meds you are giving, and more importantly WHY the patient is on those meds. I think there is going to be a skills workshop this summer to prepare incoming 3rd semester students for what to expect clinically.
Most of all, DON'T sabotage yourself- 75% of people who failed did this to themselves. Yes, it's hard, but you've made it this far- you're obviously intelligent. Put in the gruntwork, REALLY KNOW your stuff, and then be confident in what you do know, but always remember that there's more to learn and don't be afraid to ask a question. It's always better to ask a question before your allotted time for med pass, or before you turn in a care plan, or before attempting a procedure, than to get halfway through- that's how you fail.
Good luck!
