4. Trauma cert: TNCC, TNS (Illinois only), or PHTLS.

5. 8 hours of stroke education

7. All the hospital mandatories.

8. Peds continuing ed (am unsure the current number of hours need per year).

Hope this helps.

Specializes in Trauma, Teaching.

Our competency days include reviewing the defibrillators, the level one infusers, the chest tube setups, splinting, buck traction, all the point of care testing, all the nitpicking stuff JCAH looks at to see if everyone is up to date on all of it.

Add Art line set up and management to what's been posted so far for my ER. We also do haz mat training, bioterrorism review, autotransfusion, and RSI review and moderate sedation review. My ER is inner city with murder rates in the top 5 annually and the added bonus of being near 5 major interstates and 4 steel mills and a major oil refinery. Some of the competencies may not relate if you aren't near this type of industry.

I have a copy of what is expected for us. PM me if you want to see the list.
