EC Students - CPNE Eligible Group :)

Nursing Students Excelsior

Thought I would start us a thread to keep up with our little group of people that have finished or will be finishing the last exam in the next few weeks.

Me, I am done with exams, scheduled my FCCA and it will be here next week with completion by months end. The only other little obstacle is my PF Info Lit course, waiting on my book now, should be here this week. I plan to knock it out the day it gets here.

Its been a long year. I enrolled in July 2011 and finished my last exam this month. I am so ready to get done with this program and get out of a job I hate and get into a job I love.

I'm in VA so I have a few hoops to jump thru to get licensed, I will apply for and actually work in NC.

I'm hoping to schedule my CPNE for June/July and will probably go with NPAC, I have heard great things about Albany and Syracuse, so it looks like New York will be my best bet. I am scared to death of NY, I'm used to dirt country roads but will deal with it when I get there. I would really love to find someone here that I can possibly meet up with at the test site to go thru this nightmare with me, seems it does work out sometimes where a few of us do manage to have the same dates/sites.

So, where is the rest of CPNE ready folks at? For those of you working tirelessly to get that last exam in and make the deadline for the paper FCCA.......work hard and get it done so you can join in with the madness of the CPNE prep.

I thought we also needed Taylor's Fundamentals...I don't have that one because I didn't need it for any of the exams (I used my med surg book) I have looked on Barnes and noble and Amazon and the book is like 125.00.

I used the Mosby's 3rd edition and the Med Surg book I had. Don't overthink it just do it and send back in. Good Luck!!

I have the mosby's nursing DX book, I don't need another one though? They told me Taylor's fundamentals...ugh---another $$ book, I probbaly will barely use. Is it worth it to buy it?

I have the Taylor's book I bought used from Chegg's, it's been heavily used by somebody but I have never opened it. I have the fcca now and I don't think it will be needed. I guess if you didn't know how to do an assessment, you may need it or if you are not a nurse already u may need it, like medics and rts may need it.

Hey Nervous1....I would not test in Syracuse....lets just say it is an uphill battle...and New York is amazing....nothing to be scared of...just set your sites on Albany

Nope really just used the Mosby's book myself, may have verified a thing or two in the Medsurg book but really if you are a Nurse you can do this-no problem!

For FCCA i only used my Mosby's book, don't need anything else...follow the directions...they are simple for a reason! =) if you are struggling it's because you are doubting yourself because it seems so "simple" ummm it is that simple! I truely hope when they move it to a 8wk online course that people actually LEARN something from it, because i felt like it was just money thrown down the drain, didn't learn a thing...lol good luck to you! Be ready to enter CPNE studying...minus the STU of that word = DYING...LOL

Well that stupid FCCA is signed and sealed and will be on its way back to NY tomorrow. I'm so over it. All the hype to get to that point and then utter dumbness set in. I pushed thru it and finished it today and just skimmed to make sure I met the requirements for the stuff they wanted and signed it. I hope to get that "passed" email so I can move forward to CPNE.

I'm still struggling with the CPNE stuff. I have my workshop in place and all my study material and a plan....my plan two months of study! That will be the month of April and May and I plan to test in June, July at the latest. Now, my big problem is figuring out where! I'm leaning toward Atlanta because I want to do a mock with Sherri Taylor and NY scares me a little. So if anyone has any recommendations about where to stay or how to get around I would appreciate it.

I'm guessing Grady will be where I end up, I don't know anything about Southern Regional but will research it. So I'm narrowing it down to the Atlanta area test centers. I have until the end of the month to get it together, my FCCA should be graded by next week and I will have all of my paperwork ready to submit once I get that "passed" email.

Just excited to get it done and get out of the nightmare place I work at in LTC. That has been my motivator the past few months on getting done.

I still have my Info Lit class thru Penn Foster to do, I'll finish it tomorrow afternoon or Friday.

For those of you waiting on the FCCA - your time is coming. Lets get it done!

glad to know it's that easy... I need to get my paperwork together for the CPNE as well. I need to renew CPR and go to the doctor and have titers drawn. I had them drawn a few years ago--I wonder if I could just use those records? I have been readting the section 4 of the study guide, it's just so overwhealming. I think it wil sink in more with a workshop online. I need to order my skills kit and start making mneumonics as I go.

BostonNurse they do not want the titers info. They want your form in which your Md signs off on a complete physical. Your doctor's signature on that health status report.

I registered for FCCA today and it will arrive by 4/9. I'm gathering CPNE stuff and am doing Info Lit with Penn Foster while I wait, I'm so ready to be done I plan to take CPNE in June or July in Wisconsin. :)
