EC grad passes NCLEX on 2nd attempt

Published

It's been a long road going from LVN to RN! I've been an LVN for 20+ years. I started Excelsior College four years ago. I had all my pre-reqs and started taking exams one by one. I finally qualified for the CPNE in March, passed without repeats (thanks to Sheri Taylor's workshop) and graduated in May.

I used Saunders and Hurst to prepare for NCLEX the first time. The computer shut off at 76 questions and I got the "bad pop-up". I cried like a baby! Then decided, I'd come to far to give up!

I signed up for Kaplan review. I did ALL the questions trainers and ALL of the QBank questions. I studied EVERY DAY for 4-6 hours for several weeks. I sat for my second attempt yesterday. It shut off after 75 questions. I wanted to cry - I thought "I can't go through this again", but then decided, if I hadn't passed, I would keep attempting until I did! Well, I went home and got the "good pop-up".

I found out today, it's official. I get to changed those letters behind my name from LVN to RN!

Congrats, I take again NCLEX soon and like you I have decided not to give up.
