PSPS13 said:Awesome! We're neighbors! Yes, I got into ELAC, Chaffey and alternate at Citrus. I honestly didn't think I had a chance at any so am thankful! I'm just worried about ELAC's accreditation for some reason but I really should go there. Also, it seems like their concurrent enrollment program is competitive. I need to find someone who has been there to ask all the questions I have. ? Would you choose ELAC over PCC?
Yay! Thats awesome!
I was thinking the same about ELACs accreditation but if you read the transcripts from their hearing with the board. It doesn't seem like they were doing anything wrong except for not giving enough resources to students to pass the NCLEX. Ultimately, they're just their to guide us on what to study on but we have to make sure we take the extra step to study all the right things on our own. Kind of like online school. I teach myself everything. I don't know if I would choose PCC over ELAC because PCC is like the ivy league of community colleges. So most students who go there choose to go there over UC to save money. The teachers are top-tier and expect the best. Which I can do; I can give them my best. The nursing students I've talked to that went there said that the teachers sometimes teach the material with the student having some background information, but that could just be their opinion. ELAC seems more like the teachers will want to spend more time making sure you understand the material, especially since they were put on probation. LOL. Chaffey is far, I was made an alternate, but if I get chosen as a main, I don't think Id want to drive 45 minutes knowing I could have gone to ELAC.

I received an acceptance letter two days ago.

Thank you for your perspective. It really helped! I agree that a lot of it will be self-teaching. Now I'm worried because omeone on facebook told me she had a horrible experience at ELAC. She left the program early and said the professors bullied and mocked students. She said there was no support. I can deal with teaching myself but I don't want to be set up to fail either. I'll try to find other people who have attended to get a better idea.

Yes, ultimately, though. I think another person's perspective is hard to measure when their experience could be different than yours. Have you decided where you want to go?

ELAC overhauled a lot so any questions from the past might not apply to them currently. Make sure to ask them a lot of questions like where clinicals and such will be at!
Also, you got into Chaffey too right? that's a really good school, I would consider them too even though u live closer to ELAC.
