Dr. Anthony Fauci says there is clear-cut evidence that Remdesivir works. In an early clinical study, patients had a lower mortality rate when treated with Remdesivir compared to those treated with a placebo. Remdesivir was shown to decrease the average recovery rate from 15 days to 11 days.
Remdesivir can block an enzyme used by the Coronavirus and therefore blocking the effects of the virus.
